The 660K number is units that where Shipped not sold, the actual number of people who bought XIV is unknown, but after the first month, the japanese did a sensus, when there was still the option of getting a # of players online at your server, and the population numbers where below 50K. Now are this numbers official from SE ? No they are not, but is very likely they are true, since in the next update, the option to see how many players where online was taken off..... I mean if they had hundreds of thousands of players online.... Why take it off ?

Makes me wonder if you do that here >.> ..Little zam smurf accounts to troll and have "fun" with.

Those are called sockpuppets and they're not allowed. I police the IP addresses of posters to make sure there aren't multiple accounts for the same person.

Oh AlexandEric! Do you have a thing for me or something ? I have no idea who you are, but this is the second post from you, that you have directed towards Me. Also is one thing to call me a troll, is an entierly different thing to accuse me of doing something that is not allowed and i am guessing bannable ?

But just to leave things clearer than Wint has, i have no real need to use a "Smurf" account on this forums, all the white knights can really do is karma bomb me when they get owned, which is really childish, but that is an entierly different metter.

Now carry on Troll.

I havn't accused you of anything. I just simply said I wonder.. I didnt mean any disrespect. But when you make comments saying to troll in other places it helps define the type of person you are. Im just saying :) again no disrespect.

People really need to realize the difference between just posting something negative and 'trolling'...
When you call someone a troll, you are implying that they posted specifically to rile people up or make them upset.

He just has a different opinion than you.

Yeah, we all know Ostia doesn't sock, as he quite obviously gives 0 karma f*cks.

on topic:

After having succeeded the important role as the president, I plan on reviewing all Square Enix duties, business and assets on a zero-based budgeting standpoint.

For those that don't know what this means:

Zero-Based Budgeting

During the review process, no reference is made to the previous level of expenditure. Zero-based budgeting requires the budget request be re-evaluated thoroughly, starting from the zero-base. This process is independent of whether the total budget or specific line items are increasing or decreasing.

TL;DR: All assets will be assessed without taking into account previous losses (FFXIV) or gains and will have to show that they will make money.

So 14 is fine, because they won't be looking at the past.

Actually, trolling in League of Legends is too much fun... As long as you troll your opponents and not your teammates.

Because trolling in a video game is the same as trolling in a forum ? Have you played Legue of Legends ? Or Call of Duty ? Just picking a non optimal champion in legue is considered Trolling, now you might not be trolling per say, but you will be called a troll, you could have a bad game, and you will be called a troll, same in Call of Duty i can just decide to go Knife the entire match, and that would be considered trolling. Is all about Context.

And if it was the first time you had said it, ok fine, but it was the second post, made by you, in short order saying the same thing, here you just where a bit sly in your accusation.

Zero based budgeting means that each department is also responsible for the question of "How are you going to make money? If you don't make money, what value will you bring to the company?"

Cost centers (e.g. customer service): We make no money, but we provide customer service and increase brand loyalty. (Their reputation precedes them but they've gotten a lot better in the last year, to be fair. Keep this team.)
Sales: We negotiate sales contracts that bring in money. For next quarter, we expect to bring in $20 million in profit. (Weed out the low performers, keep the high performers. Nice guy? I don't give a ****. Family man? Go home and play with your kids. If you want to work here, then ******* close!)
Research: We make no money, but we determine what products are valuable and customers are hoping to see (these guys really suck, honestly. MODERNIZED FINAL FANTASY SIX/SEVEN DAMMIT. Fire them all and start from scratch.)
Individual Product Development Teams: Our game expects to sell one million PS3 units, each valued at $50 (Probably what the FFX HD team is saying.)

Etc, etc. Departments and development teams that can't justify their continued existence are told to put out or get out. (Like the Versus team. WTF have they been doing for the last seven years?)

Well, either it's their best impression of the next Diablo 3, or the next Duke Nukem Forever. My money is on the latter. Smiley: laugh

Back when WoW claimed 11m+ subscription, their peak is slightly above 2m concurrent log-in.

Apples to oranges indeed. Well never mind that there are people who play 11 WoW accounts at once.

On a more interesting note, SW:TOR peak was 350,000. Back when they claimed they sold 2m+

I used LOL, because it is now THE game with highest concurrent players.

There is a infinitly higher chance of a lot more people having 11 Accounts in LOL, than having 11 accounts in WOW, WOW only counts Active subscriptions, in order for one person to have 11 Current active subscriptions, they need to get Vanilla wow, TBC, Wotlk, Cata and pandaria, that is 100+ dollars w/o counting the 14.99 for each, thats 150 a month, i dont think there are tons and tons of people willing to pay 150 a month on a MMO. As for the rest of the argument, as you have said yourself, this games have 12 Mil and a peak of 2m online, 2M and a peak of 350K online, XIV Peak of players online was 300-400 players...... They did not sold 660K units. nor have they ever had more than 100K players on their game
