http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/download/en/FFXIV_2.0_BETA_Roadmap_EN.pdf based on this the game will launch earliest mid april latest beginning of July (so Summer lol)
also according to bet detail ll the beta will be doing is "re balancing" stuff which means whatever no MAJOR changes in the beta (like graphical overhauls, content or lack thereof etc etc) all.. just stuff like exp to level, gathering crafting balance etc etc which means any HUGE problems that require mor ethan just "rebalancing" that exist in the beta will still exist at launch... since something like for example:
getting rid of monster recoil or changing a crappy battle system or bad animations.. is OUT of the realm of "re balancing" in my eyes so if those things arent fixed in the beta then they wont be fixed at all.
edit:
- Stress testing will be conducted on the housing system.
- Testing will be conducted on the PvP Coliseum
Oh i didnt know pvp and housing would be available at lanuch.. i hope they have quests specifically for pvp too (like to get pvp gear etc etc so i can do thing related to (pvp even if it isnt specfiically fighting another player) outside of the colluseum.
After all most games with pvp have things that get you READY for pvp outside of the actual pvp itself
Edited, Dec 26th 2012 9:28am by DuoMaxwellxx Oh ye of little faith sir. They are going to re-balance aka not make it such an awkward thing to look at when it comes to mob recoil. Also, housing will definately be a part of the launch. It's something people have been wanting since day 1. The only part of housing that wont be available is the inclusion of the large size house for personal use. They will be there for free companies to use though. Somehow, I'm going to need a lot of time to save up some more gil to buy my own large size house after I help my LS mates purchase our free company headquarters. The cost is going to be "astranomical" as yoshi p has stated in the past. I'm supposed to "recoil" in fear once I see it. Hopefully, they've adjusted the recoil before then that way I don't hurt myself from fear...

I remember every one of SE's defenders stating the rumored July release date is unrealistic and anyone who thought it could be true are spreading fear and uncertainty among people and trolling.
Also, SE stated monster reaction will be adjusted in beta, the horrible animations and over simplified battle system however..no, because they simplified it to cater to PvP lovers since the guy in charge loves PvP.
This doesn't surprise me at all that July could possibly be release date window. I'm not sure where you've been seeing this type of "SE defenders", but I've been expecting a June/July launch since they released the possible beta start time of late January/ early February. This sucks though, if it does happen in June. I work in a hospital and we move into the brand new one we've been building for 2 years June 1rst. I'm going to be working lots and lots of overtime during that time and wont have much time for stuff outside of work. :( I was hoping it would release earlier, but Julyish would be fine by me since things will have cooled off by then.

So does it break NDA to go ahead and say now I'm a Legacy account holder?

Me too then

Me too! Any chance you'll make an official announcement when the NDA is lifted for those lucky few alpha people? I'm curious when the floodgates will open about opinions and such on the state alpha was in. How can you tell anyways?

Popular opinion on the official forums are they are picking beta testers for phase 1 from the legacy pool and that it doesn't guarantee you a spot. I can't imagine there are a ton of legacy members though, so hopefully most get in. Good luck either way

I can, I've seen plenty of people joining last minute to leech Legacy Benefits. Not as many as the 14-16k people based on Japanese search graphs but more than enough to make it a lotto considering the other eligibility listed lol.

Something that I noticed is that they specifically mention Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah leveling paths are to be implemented during Phase III. This makes me wonder if during the first two phases whether Gridania will still be the only region which access is granted to or not.
I seem to recall back during the 1.0 Beta that Limsa Lominsa was basically all there was to it right up to release, or maybe up until the final beta phase. Hrm.
It likely will only be Gridania.
They will likely have a bit MORE of it than alpha or it simply means in beta Uldah and Limsa won't have content for leveling seeing as the game is going to be a quest/dungeon level grind.
Edited, Dec 26th 2012 8:05am by Theonehio You're right. La Noscea was the only place available during all of beta testing for 1.0. I was under the impression we'd get to experience everything the game had to offer content wise during beta. I don't see why they wouldn't let use enter La Noscea or Thanalan in the beta if that was the case. I'm excited to see what/how much they've changed the world. Keep in mind that the level cap for characters will be level 35 and now 20 so if you made it into alpha, you'll be able to explore more areas easily due tothe higher level cap. Also, once characters from 1.0 are imported, their lvl cap will be 50 since it specifically mentions that the level cap for these characters will be that of 1.0. Woot! This is all sure to make my LS page blow up again with excitement!
