And in addition to that, it seems that most crafting materials will be reduced to the same four or five ingredients.

Well, this realm reborn certainly seems a lot... simpler. It looks as though pretty much everything is going the "post-WoW MMORPG" route. Do you think they'll actually add enough to reward extra effort or to keep the game mildly interesting?

I thought the entire point with ARR was to simplify everything. Nothing with FFXIV when it was new was simple at all! I really like the Aetheryte change but I do hope they change the loading time since most of the time it would just take shorter time walking to that location instead of teleporting there.

Simpler is better. However, everything has invisible lines that can be crossed. Over-simplification is a valid fear. At the ground level, I want crafting and battle systems to be intuitive and fun but not at the expense of the effort/challenge and reward. These systems should be intuitive and easy to use for all but at the top level of the structure it needs to have depth to challenge even the most experienced MMO players.

As always I will attempt to avoid pre-mature judgement. I think that there is such a thing as too simple. It is real challenge that experienced players are seeking and not and 'easy button' all the way.

We shall see if Yoshi crosses that line. He does seem to be flirting with it anyway.
