Dear XIV Players,

Is this game heavily quest based? like WoW or Aion, where you have to run to Y and talk to X and gather Z amount of blahblah to gain more exp then just grinding?
Also is the community mature like FFXI? (more social)
I dont feel like playing to get to the part where i can actually play with people xD

Oh and can my pc run this? i scored 3000 on the benchmark test

Intel core i3 550 3ghz 4 cpu
4gb ram windows 7
ATI Radeon 6770 HD

Not at the moment, but it is heading in that direction.

Your PC should be able to run it.

Ah should be, damn i hope it can run on higher then normal settings
I can run Aion just fine (only it sucks hard)

One more question though, do we have to pay when 2.0 comes out? i heard it'll be rereleased in stores for PC and PS3
Oh yeah when you stop playing and payin will your account be removed or can it be activated later?

The current game engine is very finicky and poorly optimized. Often, I can hit 60 FPS, then other times I drop to 25.

The game should run well for you, but don't expect any consistency, at least until the 2.0 upgrade.

You will not have to upgrade your account in order to play 2.0, just think of it as a patch. There'll be a month or two beta/trial period before its retail release (which will most likely be after Christmas, according to their roadmap.) There WILL, however, be a subscription fee. So your account shouldn't be blammed due to inactivity.

Yes, there's currently a subscription fee, but it's discounted due to this still technically the "rebuilding" phase. Once 2.0 hits there'll be another free-trial for people who've already purchased, regardless of their subscription status.

And, anyone who has the original game will be able to upgrade to 2.0 for free. If you don't have the original you would need to purchase the 2.0 (and depending on the cost it may be better to purchase if you don't have a copy now, simply to avoid the massive download we will have to incur). But then again, I certainly am not paying for a copy of the game... again...

To explain it better, it is currently subscription based. However servers will be taken down on 11/11/2012 Dohvahkiin and they will run beta/trial period for v2.0 before v2.0/A realm reborn officially launch (and resume subscription).

Do they still intend in having multiple Alpha tests starting with regional JP residents?

I will buy it one more time, The PS3 version of it that is :D So I can swap between pc or ps3. And friend gets serial code from my PS3 copy , so he can join on his PC ;)

The community I have experienced in FFXIV is similar to FFXI. Age 18 + `? Not like wow with its players at avarage 15 year.. ( or something low )

Judging from his last letter, the intention seems to be to test the effects of worldwide server traffic. If you'll recall things like the Ifrit fight were very difficult to play in Europe, for example. I think those are the type of concerns he'd be interested in working on early on before they become problems that can't be solved. But the first part of the alpha test's 4 phases will be Japanese to begin with.
