The game definitely runs higher than 30fps. Its just not consistent.
I'm level 15 and this is the first time using a controller with FFXIV...as a PC player this is a pretty big adjustment. My first two guildhests were a disaster even though we won. I will most likely get a wireless keyboard and mouse and use that if I can't get the controller down. I'm tanking with MRD BTW.
As far as the technical aspects on PS4, it looks good and it runs a bit better than my PC at 900p. (My PC is a Q9550, 6gb ram, 128gb ssd, 550ti). The only advantage my PC has is the loading times from the ssd.
If I sit close to the TV the readability is fine, but if I move too the couch, its a bit harder to see. Its not impossible, but there needs to be an adjuster for the quest dialog, and map locations.
Other random stuff: I did try a wired keyboard and mouse and it installs and works flawlessly. I don't use them because there is no comfortable location by my TV, hence the need for a wireless KB/mouse.
The touchpad is just as responsive as a mouse, but its still a little awkward. It can right click and left click, tap to click and click to click. But its not entirely intuitive. Mouse mode would be better for mouse things.
Typing is still best with a keyboard, but the gyroscope in conjunction with the auto fill, can work in a pinch.
All in all the game runs and looks great; it just needs some tweaks\optimization. For a "beta" its really solid. Honestly my problem is just being horrible with the controller. It gives me a newfound prospective on playing with PS3 players.
