You are crazy if you think FFVII and its blocky graphics appeal to most of the kids used to PS3-level visuals.
Remember... this is the generation of Minecraft and Flappy Bird.
Hahaha, that's a good point. My girlfriend's little brother is 13 and sits in front of Minecraft on his Xbox 360 for hours on end. I'm not surprised that he didn't care about Final Fantasy VII's graphics either (when I gifted it to him on Steam). He beat it and enjoyed it.

Oh I get it. ARR has loading screens. So now most young people are more likely to enjoy FFVII than FFXIV?
How delightfully trollish of you.

No. I was actually trying to say that when I do see people today complaining about playing older JRPGs, one thing I often see them complain about is loading screens (as in long loading screens you have to wait before random encounters).
People usually understand that they're playing an older game and the visuals aren't going to be as good... that doesn't really take away from the story. Actually, the graphic limitations on older RPGs forced the creators to convey certain things in pretty interesting/funny ways that you might not see in more modern RPGs.
