My Geforce 4 MX 440 graphics card s not supported by the game. So I do get occasional lag which I thought was due to graphics issues... but maybe not.
BTW yes my system is 10 years old (almost) and other than most games no longer supporting my graphics card it has been a faithful system with no real issues in all of this time. There are no graphics cards currently being made that I can use without basically getting a new computer.
When I first start up the game there is no lag. Then about 10-20 minutes into the game things start to lag. So I reduced all of the graphics stuff to the lowest possible setting (rendering distance, no plant material, lowest quality texture etc) and discovered immediate lag upon starting.
Resetting these higher than what the game set them as default I discover I have much less lag. In fact lag doesn't set in until I enter a region with a lot of players, such as the Crossroads or Snowyhill.
No I have distance rendering set to max, graphics and texture quality to max and shadow to nil and seem to have almost no lag until about 15 minutes into the game or when entering a crowded area.
Is this about right for lag?
