High keep costs for small guildsFollow

Right now it costs 10 gold PER hour to hold a keep in Tier 4. I've seen many small or medium sized guilds discussing 15, 20, 25% tax rates, and their guild populations are crying out to lower them as they say the rates are too high.

I can understand complaining when you might have need for that gold, but right now I'm not sure there is much need for gold in the game other than these combat focuses. So a 15, 20, 25, or even 50% tax rate to hold keeps at higher Tiers may not only be necessary but justified.

Although I see potential exploitation in the system (what system doesn't have the potential on some level), I think the developers should offer a percentage tax rate depending upon the guild strength and/or population count at the time.

TFS just raised thier tax to what 20%? I am still tithing 30%, I think I actually increased it after i saw that they set the tax so low. I wonder if the people ******** even realize how expensive it is to hold a keep, and that it's only off what they loot, not what they sell. So far with 50% of my looted income going to the guild, I have not had any problems with gold.

I think TFS is still at 10, or at least that's what we had it at. We're going to hold off raising it until everyone is past mounts.

Yeah I think a lot of people are having a hard time letting go of gold still because of other their perception of money from other games. Any FFXIer leaving is probably holding on to ever penny. WoWer's are probably expecting a huge EPIC FLYING DODO of DOOM at level 40 that costs 90 million gold. To be honest, this is the first game in a LONG time where money is pretty much irrelevant to me so I completely understand.

What most people also don't realize is it's only on the looted money you recieve, not on items you sell or quest reward money

The issue is that players not used to a guild tax system will find it hard to stomache the idea .. especialy as it tells them it's happening every time they make a kill (PVE and PVP). The reason they will is a combination of it being an idea that is not common (I paid it in Eve ... but that's the only MMOPG I've seen it in so far) and the real struggle for WoW in particular was for cash in the early stages (at L70 it pours in if you're even half sensible .. but people who could afford the mount fees on their first toon at L40 were not that many).

I know that I have to find 19g spare cash for R20 (mount + second name) but I'm confident tat I can make it. After that .. I hav no idea what there is to spend cash on BESIDES paying for your guild to hang it's flag on a keep to attract idio ... destruction folk to come die. SO I'm fairly ambivalent about the tax system at the moment.

As a side note .. I know the tax / tithe only hits your cash on kills ... but that is a very significant proportion of your income. Until the later t2 quest rewards, cash from other sources is not that good.

If they allowed a rank split on tax % then maybe it would be less of a PR issue?

Now that I have my mount squared away (such a pretty pony, yes you are <3) I honestly don't care how high the guild tax rate is. The guild I joined recently is set at 5%, and I'll gladly tithe 30%. They seem like a decent group of people, no ridiculous expectations of us like that last debacle of a guild and the guild leader could actually string a sentence together without straining himself.

The tax rate reminds me a lot of EVE. It was pretty much required if you wanted to hold space. Same deal for WAR. Unlike EVE, I'm not sure there's a whole lot to actually spend your gold on which is a concern. New players wanting to start out on their first toon won't be able to buy things off the AH since people will pay ridiculous amounts for T1/T2 gear for their twinks.

I kinda like it, every kill I do makes the guild a whole copper. Makes me feel useful.
