correction on some misinformationFollow

I went ahead and did some actual testing on chalices on my DOK.

At first I thought that chalices would be the best way to gain large chunks of willpower.. then I checked the auction house and found a sword that gives +30 and has higher DPS than what I am already using..

So at this point I called into question WTF chalices are even for.

so I did some brief testing.
As a level 18 DOK with 2 swords that give no +willpower

Divine Favor == 918
Soul Infusion == 165 ( and continued to tic for 165 after )
Restore Essence == 210 ( 137 after that )

As a level 18 DOK with 1 sword and a chalice that gives +15 willpower

Divine Favor == 918
Soul Infusion == 166 ( 165 after )
Restore Essence == 216 ( 138 after )

As a level 18 DOK with 2 swords that each give +30 willpower

Divine Favor == 918
Soul Infusion == 169 ( 165 after )
Restore Essence == 235 ( 139 after )

...
Yep chalices don't help at all with any kind of healing >.>.. And they sure as hell don't offer useful stats once you are 18 you can easily grab two swords that give +30 willpower...

So the question is now...
What in the hell are chalices for????

Perhaps more in depth testing is needed.. I had other armor on when I did the testing ect...

ya, ive found that chalices generally have less stats than my swords, and give no dps.

i would be surprised to ever see anyone use a chalice.

do they have abilities that require a chalice to be equipped? like the lvl 2 morale for chosen requires a shield? pretty sure that'd be obvious enough that someone would have noticed it already but i wanted to ask. friend of mine plays DoK so i was curious.

I tend to be kind of a tight ass about things like this. Ill have to double check but I would be rather surprised if I have an ability I haven't been able to use.
Its possible they do something that's not as obvious.

reduced cost of soul essence spells..
additional tics on hots..

IMHO I hope these guys don't treat the game like square does with FFXI.... I am kind of tired of that stance in games these days.

What they should do is make it so chalices give a direct percentage bonus to healing potency or increased soul essence pool size or something neat like that.
otherwise I just don't get it.

I must be overlooking something..

Have you looked on the ah for a better chalice? Maybe there are some that are really good because, so far, I am not seeing much reason to equip one.

What classes can equip chalices?

I was just wondering about this last night. God to know that it doesn't affect the healing in any significant way. I also haven't noticed any abilities that require one to be equipped. I have never equipped one, and been able to use all my abilities thus far. I am only 16 though.

Maybe there are some really nice ones that come later, who knows?

I believe only dok can.
However they are considered charms so its possible you might be able to equip other types of charms. I know that some classes like Zealots use an off hand charm as well and you can upgrade them more often than not but I have zero clue what a statless charm provides a zealot either.. You start off with one of those.

I will keep my eyes open if I spot anything...
Maybe they do something that is not easily seen with the naked eye.... Does this game even have a parser yet?

Its possible that when you dual wield the delay of both weapons is added together and if you single wield you make up for it by attacking twice as fast. Eyeballing it however this doesn't seem to be the case because If I am grinding PVE mobs I need to equip 2 swords for maximum damage.

Chalices can also just be part of the original design of doks and mythic decided to go with 2 swords and they didn't bother to take chalices out..

ill post in here if I find anything..
