Has anyone tried running the game in a parallels or fusion VM on a later model mac book pro?

I'm planning on playing natively in boot camp mode most of the time, but would be nice to know if it runs halfway decently in the VM.

I've got a 2.5ghz, 4gb ram, 5400 rpm.

thanks.

Hey you'r specs sound fine. You should have no problems running the game at all. If VM is what i think you'r talking about (Virtual Machine) then as long as you got an OS that can execute .exe files and other basic extensions, you probably won't have any problems at all.

Good luck!

Yes, VM == virtual machine. There are 2 available for OS X: parallels and fusion. I'm going to be running XP sp2. Haven't loaded either one VM yet; been putting it off, waiting on WAR. I have a nice, clean install of XP on the boot camp partition - just waiting for the game to finish downloading.

And wishing I didn't live 2 miles from the DSLAM. :( I get less than half the bandwidth I pay for.

I got it running in Bootcamp with my MBP 2.16GHz w/ 2 gigs RAM and the older X1600 128mb card.

It was smooth on "best framerate" settings.

I haven't tried parallels, but with 4 gigs of RAM (and I would assume half of it apportioned to Windows), I suspect it will run rather well on your more up-to-date machine.

I'll find out later today. went through bootcamp **** most of saturday. *note to self* - NEVER, EVER say, "I'm ready for it when it comes out."

Seems that when I made my XP partition I hadn't noticed that WAR required 15gbs of free space. I only made the entire partition 20gigs. So I had to redo the bootcamp partition and make it 30gigs.

I had downloaded the game to OS X and then couldn't find my external drives power supply.

several other annoying little things. Long story short: set down to install the game at 12:30 in the afternoon. Finally got it done at 12:45 am.

But now I'm ready to install parallels and run the partition in OS X.

Oh, wait. Now that I made the OS X partition smaller, I don't have enough space for the parallels VM.......... and don't have another external to move music/movies/etc off onto. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
