Link Dead, Task Dungeons and InstancesFollow

Ok
I love DaoC to death, don't get me wrong, but I've had enough of going link dead, and getting kicked out of task dungeons, groups, instances, what ever. My connection has been having problems latley, and I know I am not the only one who experiences this. I hear it all day. I think there needs to be an increased timer on the amount of packetloss that can be experienced. My roommates play EQ, on the same connection, they can sit there, and we'll lose link for 20 seconds, and I'll get kicked out of DAOC, but they won't get kicked out of EQ. I get sick and tired of it. PLEASE increase the timer!

sounds like you have some local network or local computer issues. I would try to narrow down the problem by perhaps seeing if you have the same issues on a different computer on the same network. Maybe you or your roommates are filesharing and hogging all the upstream bandwidth. Maybe your computer has problems with faulty hardware (NIC? NIC drivers? crappy network cable? bad or faulty switch/switch port?) or malicious software (spyware? viruses?) or perhaps your computer is just not fast enough to run the game.

I too have roommates and they play WoW roughly 24x7, at the same time I play 2 DAoC accounts simultaniously on different computers and have not EVER gone link dead.

EDIT: I just reread your post and realized I misunderstood. Your roommates ALSO lose connectivity for 20 second periods. Well that would indicate possible faulty hardware (bad router? bad switch?) or filesharing hogging upstream bandwidth. It could also be a virus on the network causing a packet storm, but probably not very likely.
