~~~Beware. Long post ahead~~~
Hi all. Used to play DaoC pre expansion, back when the great smite-cleric nerf hit. That was probably a couple years back i think. Along with when scouts got the nerf bat. I cry nerf as I had a pair of higher lvls for both, and they just weren't the same after.
So atm I'm playing WoW and am kinda bored. It feels like DaoC Jr. Kind of hard to explain.
So I was just wanting to find out what's new overall. How'd the expansion turn out. What was new in it, anything earthshaking to how the game was played 2+ years back. Just general stuff. Nothing lame like "ZOMG WUT'S TEH BEST CLAS?!!?11!". Your opinions on it would be great. Ups and downs. That sort of thing.
*EDIT* Couple of other questions I've rolling around. Mounts? Anything beyond that damned horse? One like WoW would be a big perk. I loathed travel back when I played (2001 I think).
I remember back then, professions/crafting were really overlooked. You could get right up to max level without giving them a look at all. Did Mythic ever improve on that somehow?
Oh and the auction house back then. I remember it being pretty lousy as well. Did that get fixed as well?
Thx again everyone.
Thanks very much : )
DAoC is like a new game compared to the old days.
No, Smite Clerics are still nerfed, but you'll find a ton of new classes since the game was released. If you like an Albion healer that can do damage, then try a Heretic. They're a blast to play.
Traveling to most places is just a tele-port away.
XP has been increased across the board so leveling is much easier and faster.
Instanced dungeons have been introduced so you never have to fight for camps for the best xp.
I'd recommend one of the Classic servers if you are a returning player, or are completely new to the game.
Gareth, Lamorak or Ector.
There is no /level on these servers so everybody who makes a new character has to manually level them from 1 to 50, unlike the other servers where players who already have a level 50 character can /level it to 20. This basically killed the ability for new players to get groups at low levels.
Also, on the Classic servers there is no TOA. TOA made it almost impossible for a new or casual player to compete even after they leveled their character to level 50, unless they invested a huge amount of time gaining Master Levels and obtaining and leveling artifacts.
You can download a trial version of DAoC at the following site...
-edit-
Oh yeah....
Personal horses are coming in October when Mythic releases their newest expansion, Darkness Rising. Even players who don't buy the new expansion will be able to obtain a basic horse by completing a quest in-game.
Downloaded the trial, yet it's still asking me for a cd key. Of course I don't have one as it's the trial. Am I doing something wrong or?...
So even though it's just a 14 day trial, I still have to fill in my Credit Card info? Kind of messed up.
