Whats Happening to DAoCFollow

#1 May 10 2005 at 9:08 AM Rating: Decent
I left DAoC a little less then a year ago and was thinking about coming back. However, when i went to the Herald page i noticed that the realm population numbers where WAY down from what they were when i played. My question is this; What is the game like now? With so few playing now is the game suffering at all? IS it worth my time to come back and play? I really want to come back, but not if it's only gonna be for a short time becuase no-one is ever on.

Thanx

I will say 5 words to explain it: World Of Warcraft, and Guildwars.

Alot of people left for GW and WoW. Lots have come back form WoW it will be not much longer before they come back form GW too. DAoC offers a game play unlike any other game.

Well, there are tons of people on now because of clustering, so RvR can be over populated at times.

As for PvE, it is very nice to have 3 camps of any arti mob to kill, 1 on each server.

As for Wow, hmm, lets see, I left for SWG=3 month, AC2=1 month, Planetside=2 weeks, WoW=2 months.

as with any MMOG that is over 1 year old, things tend to not be "new" anymore, and people will go and see what else is out there, I know I do. But, I always compare the game itself, the company that provides the game, and the endgame(what do I do when I max out my level), as well as the playerbase and such. Those are the reasons I always return to DAOC, I have taken severla 6 month breaks over the course od 3.5 years, and I just catchup when I return. I always logged in to maintain my houses though.

Just my thought.

Scartissue of Palomides
PS If you return I can Necro PL you as an Alb on Palo, PM me.

DAoC is the best of the worst. WoW's PvP system sucks, the jury is still out on Guild Wars.

I noticed the low population counts too on several of the servers, especially on Palomides where I used to play several years ago, but I am optimistic about the situation. I plan on starting out again with a class I can solo through the lower levels with.
