connection problem, any help is appreciatedFollow

I just bought a new computer, windows xp, all the bells and whistles. I loaded daoc and downloaded all the patch info, but when i go to play, i get to the server window, select the server and connect, and it disappears. Anyone have any idea what is wrong? I had no problem with my other computer, so I know it has to do with some type of setting on this one. I just don't know what. I've turned all the firewalls off, and went through the daoc website for their troubleshooting info. but still cannot get to character screen. thanks in advance.

Are you sure your graphix card can run Daoc? I had that problem with my husbands new computer. Second thing to do is update your graphix card drivers. I have that problem with this computer when I reload it.

You may have already got this prob solved, but it sounds remarkably like what used to happen to me until i clicked on my blocker and instructed it not to block the site.

Try all the following....

Go to task manager (control, alt, delete keys)...make sure nothing is running.

For example...Anti Virus software that always runs, Spysweeper or any anti-spyware software that always runs, if you have Windows XP Service pack 2 then disable the firewall.

Of course like the other person said...a video card...GeForce or Raedon or comprable...(good ones available at www.Jaton.com, I dont like retail stores because no-one know what theyre talking about.

I assume your new computer is a Pentium 4 and you have enough RAM.

And of course youre not using Dial-Up.

Good Luck friend.

Also try being on the phone with Camelot Tech support and maybe they can walk you through it.

Dial up should have nothing to do with it.

I had to use dial up for a couple months when i moved to an area that was broadband impaired. I had rare LD, but I have the same with my 5mb connection.

Sounds to me as though it's prolly the video card...if you could post what the specs are it would be helpful.

I agree with that pain in the **** Doobles, dial-up has nothing to do with it, the only time i go LD is when my ISP decides it wants to act up. Other than that I go relatively un-disturbed and lag minimally (When I can get something better than 14.4 **wretches**).
