I dont how many others have done this, I am sure a lot, but I find it too frustrating to create a level 20 character on another server where you know no-one and arrive naked and pennieless.

Of course you can get the free armor, but youre too far away to find anything your level to fight and you dont have any money even for a horse...unless you want to beg for it which I cant bring myself to do.

Any thoughts...

And yes I know a game isnt meant to be easy, but a few silver would be nice.

The easiest thing to do is, upon rolling the new toon, start the level 7 and 11 epic quests. usually they involve a small amount of running around (there are some exceptions- guild of shadows anyone) and you will have about 20s after that. enough to buy a horse ticket and a medailion of passage to the bgs, where you can earn a bit more money. Plus you will have some sort of jewelry to start off with, even if it is gray to you it's still something.

Another idea which I have never actually done myself, but seems logical is to "trade" plat from one server to another. You could go to Goth or NF (Castle Savage) and broadcast a message like "Looking to trade plat from Merlin to ________". I've heard of people doing this but have never done it myself. So you give 1 plat to one of his lowbee toons on Merlin server, and he gives you 1 plat on whatever server you want to be on.

A second choice that my buddy did was to go on Ebay and buy plat. I think he paid $4 per plat. So this seems kind of cheesy but I know a guy that did it. It happened in a day or two, and makes it easy to start a toon anywhere you want.

Laughing...I have been so tempted to buy plat from Ebay or another service....then I will be the best dressed player in Camelot who will die the easiest...

Anyway...its a little wacky changing servers and then going to the same place that you always go but everyone you know from your guild and all your friends have vanished but the surroundings are completely familar...its like a bad science fiction movie and you want to get out.

BTW I did some research. If you go to google.com and search for "DAOC plat" several sites come up to buy plat. I was a bit suprised, but mostly it was selling for about $2 per plat, not too bad. I'm friends with aktronia and btw, he's the one that bought the plat, even though he doesn't admit it lol.

OK. Here is what you do.

Create your character. Find a task from one of the named guards around the town. Kill the mob that is given for the task. Go to your trainer. Level to 20. Return to the guard. Receive the amount of money you would receive for doing a task at level 19. Like 20 silver or something. That's plenty to get you to the battlegrounds which is where i'm sure you're headed anyways.

Have a nice day.
