Midgard Guinivere.. <sigh> Make me understandFollow

<nods>

I recently returned to DAoC after being dormant for what seems near two years now. Returning to the game I had high hopes of picking up where I left off, but anyone familiar with MMORPGS knows that's easier said then done. Things change, mobs are added, items removed, lands evolve, but one thing that never ceases to amaze me.. The stupidity of people who play the game. Aye, that is a blunt statement, but never the less it needs to be said.

<<(My main idea)>>

Guilds:

As I said before I had high hopes of returning to the familiar;One of those familiars being the guild I left behind so long ago. However to my suprise, the guild no longer exists, and in place of it literally hundreds have spawned. By the Camelot Herald www.camelotherald.com there are at this moment 373 Guilds on Midgard Guinivere.. Now exclude the top 27-30% who have a minimum of about 10 members.. Cut that back a few more, and there are about 13% of the guilds on our server that have more than 30 members. To beat it all people STILL INSIST on creating more and more player guilds! What I want to know, is with 373 guilds.. the overall population cant possibly fill the guilds with a decent amount of players.. So are you so vain to actually pay to have a name under your own with absolutely no intention of creating a player organized guild with common goals and objectives?!

The madness needs to stop..

If it were possible.. invision the strength of the guilds if you were to combine them. Imagine what you would get if Concordium Imago Odinis and the 8th Tribe joined together <faints>

You would have an extremely powerful, extremely versatile group of individuals, am I right..

So, not to be one who trys to change the world of Midgard, but rather than create more senseless guilds with little or no reason.. why not call upon your fellow guild leaders, and band together to create something larger.. something more flavorful, something with an actual purpose.. not just a name.

It's simple.. think about it

Thanks for your time, and I hope this sparks your imaginations..

Ummm, maybe because people have diffrent ideas about what a guild should be. To be honest, alot of the guilds out there are filled with a bunch of elitist bastards that i would never want to give the time of day to. people forget most often that this is a GAME, which WAY to many people take seriously. It is hard enough to coordinate people to do a simple ML raid, much less combine guilds into a hundred people or more, it would be chaos. there are many casual players who do not wish to become a major part of the whole RvR struggle. Some only like to PvE. I think your idea is a good one, but not very feasible.

I know what you mean, i recently joined the mid guinivere server for a buddy of mine, and now i saw what you meant in like no time, its awful. i understand what you want to do, and i agree. i understand that not all people want to RVR, and some never wanna PVE, but we need to make enough guilds for RVR that can hold/take towers/keeps, and then have a couple of guilds for PVE events, and only have 1 alliance. so we can corridate all of the efforts of the realm. i hope that one day, you and i can get together and try to make this happen. thanks, Steelsword

Yes there are people who start guilds simply to be the guildmaster. (I know a guy, ex friend of a buddy of mine). That said there are people like me and my buddy who were going to try to resurrect the guild (on Nimue, have since migrated to Guin) as a guild for people like us who can't play all day every day, and sometimes pop on at strange times, and then ally ourselves with a full size guild to help both groups out. We would gain more organized activities, they would gain warm bodies etc. We weren't trying to add to the confusion or harm Midgard, just trying to help people out. Since then he has joined the Watchmen of the Bifrost, and I hope to. In game tho, does it really matter how many guilds out there are really only 2 friends with mult. accounts and 392 alts as members? <jk> I learned the hard way in other games, you join a guild based on what people say about it and you leave it because of the way it is really run. So the little "pretend guilds" will come and go, and the big ones that really try to help Midgard out will stay and flourish. <bonk> <falls off soapbox now>
