I just preordered the platinum edition from gamestop and i'm gonna get it this friday. I was a mage on EQ and it took me about an 2 hours to get a group. I think i'm gonna be an elf ranger. Is this a good choice for a first character and is it easy to group up with one? Thx for your help

Rangers unforutnately have a bad reputation for getting groups (not sure why but it seems to have caught on). If you play Hibernia realm pretty much every other class is easy to get a group at any time. Bards are probably the most sought after but the casters for Hibernia are great and can be trained to be both great group support and damage dealers.
I personally play a ranger because I enjoy the solo aspect of the game. Being able to hide and shoot from hiding at a distance for decent damage is fun to me. Gives me the feel of me vs. the world...hehe.
Hope this doesn't dissuade you from playing a ranger. Still a fun class grouped or solo.

If you dont like Stealthers play a Valewalker (hybrid) or a Void Eldritch (Caster) ftw! ^_^
