soloing classFollow

Hi Im a new player to DAOC, I came from everquest, and im looking for a very efficient soloing, and VERY fast leveling class that does not need to have anything to offer in a group, since im probably not going to group anyway. So basicalyl im looking for a olo only char, but the best at it.

Probably best bet would be the necromancer then. But they're not the best in RvR if you plan on doing that, which is perrty much like playing on Tallon or Vallon Zek servers. If you want co-op like what we have in EQ then I suggest Gaheris, which is a much more mature server ie family guilds language policies.

yup a nec or thane in midgard or also a runemaster.

thane = hybrid tank and even in my mid 30s im still able to solo orange con mobs (yellow con in EQ, keeping in mind a 35th DAoC = about 45-50 in EQ)

runemaster = pure caster much like a wiz in EQ.

im an EQ convert, and ill never go back to SoE. not that EQ is bad game, but im just fed up with the way they treat their customers and refuse to fix what they already have instead of pumping out more junk that will not work right from the get go.

Mythic does not do that. if its broak it does not go live. its that simple.

thanks, though, and this may be a newb question, but is there a research type of system for pure casters like necro and runemaster, like in EQ? Also, is the thane very costly because I just started and have no money.

DAoC in its mechanics is absolultly NOTHING like EQ.

few examples:

1. no spells to buy
2. no combat arts to buy
3. trade skills that are worth doing as they make items better then store baught and looted (until mid 40s or closer to 40th)
4. trade skilling will net you a proffit from skill 1 - 650 via commisions.
5. all quests are level appropriate and WORK to give you something worth while.
6. NO CAMPING that rare spawn mob for hours, days, weeks, months.
7. no KSing in the EQ way.

ok that is a short enough list. get the 7day download, do some reads on this forum and others, and try it out. the 7day is 100% free, and Mythic will not auto bill you if you do not chose to continue unlike SoE

I started a reaver and have just about soloed her up all the way from 1 to 20 in a matter of days and Im new at DAOC too.

I have her trained pretty strongly in soulrendering though.

She is equal in shield/flex and third in parry.

She does great solo and can solo most oranges and some reds.

Also my boyfriend is an all suppression bonedancer and he solo's great too.

The good thing about most classes in DAOC is that they can be specialized to do exactly what you want them to do: offense, defense, support.

A fast-leveling character in DAOC would be one who can consistently take out yellow-con mobs at lower levels and orange-con mobs as you get stronger and accumulate optimum equipment.

Most classes experience some risk trying to do red con mobs and they usually take a lot longer to kill. As experience is capped according to level, killing red con mobs is usually not cost or risk effective. You'll experience more down time, more misses or resists, more of a chance to die and usually not much more experience than for an orange-con mob. Orange-con mobs are considered optimum in experience as well as in time and effort to kill.

So, try a few characters that you think you'll have fun playing. It only takes an hour or two to get a character to level 5 (when you pick your advanced class) and you'll be able to tell by level 10 whether a class suits you.
