Which Eldritch is better?Follow

#1 Jan 15 2004 at 3:11 AM Rating: Default
I am new to DAOC and wanted to play the Eldritch class. However, I noticed that there are three paths you can follow, but I don't know anything about them. I want to pick one where I will be able to solo if I want, but also bring something to a group when I join one. Basically, I don't want to get to a point where I wonder if I made the wrong choice. Thanks

PS-I want to go caster and Eldritch looks good on paper, but if there is another class that is better, please let me know.

ok, here is my imput on this. I am a 37 lvl Void Eldy. I have been doing a lot of research from forums and such for this class. It seems to me that Void is good for Solon'g which you will do a lot of. Once most hit 40 they respec to Mana which is more group friendly and more usefull for rvrn'g. That seems to be the thought. Personally I am going to stay Void, why, just cause I like it and I know what my strengths/weakness's are. I can't see respecn'g at 40 to different spec line, like learning the class all over again, and at 40? Seems stupid, but thats just me. As for other casters? Enchanters are really good for solon'g cause of pet, as for are Animists. Animists are much better in rvr situations I think. Mentalists are really dependent upon getting in groups. They of all the casters I believe and from what I gather from friends who play them have a hard time going alone. I think you will have more fun with the Eldy, no matter which line you take. Pic one and learn for yourself, Light/Mana/Void. They all have there own strengths and weakness's.

I totally agree!! Most do go void then respec to mana. Mana elds are GREAT in RvR, but so are void elds. Just all up to whether you want to respec and learn all the spells again.

Animist are awesome in PvE and RvR. They are great for farming as well.

Enchanters, after the nerf, kinda arent the "Best" for farming/PvE any longer, but still a fun casting class to play.

Mentalists are GREAT for their HoTs and their Crack 5, but, as was said earlier, have trouble soloing and are more grp friendly.
I have a 45 mana ment w/crack 5 and he can get a grp easy but soloing is usually a slow process.

Hope this helps :)

ench is a nice choise. you are able to go solo in rvr, because you have speed. cast the snarepet, attack an enemy with the pet and run away. the enemy is slower than you ( because he is snared, sprint away and your speed turns on again after 6 secounds without a hit ) then debuff heat und burn him down with your base light-dd. repeat it two times and normaly the enemy is down. it works fine. ok, you can't solo all enemies (minstrell shami etc. ), but most of them. skill: 49-50 mana, rest into light. with ench you are also welcome in most rvr- and pvmgrps.

I think all the bolt casting DDers (Void, Runecarving, Fire) do well solo, but are not highly desired in groups.
Pet classes solo well, and some are wanted in groups (suppression Spiritmaster, Mana Enchanter). The Mana eldritch and Ice Wizard are also wanted in groups, but dont solo as well since they dont have pets.
Suppression Runemasters are wanted in groups for their Pulsing Bladeturn, and can solo, but not nearly as well as Void. Solo until 20th as Runecarver, then switch to Suppression if you want to group.
Sorcerers can solo or group well, as they can DD, charm a pet, CC and have power regen.
Mentalists are wanted in groups for power regen. They can solo with DOTs and kiting. Eventually, they can get high enough to split spec (Light/Mana) so they can keep an orange con mob charmed while having fully specced Light DD. Very nice class at the high levels.

If you want a well rounded caster I recommend either Sorcerer or Mentalist. Both can solo and both are wanted in groups.

Right now i have a lvl 23 Full Void spec Eldy. With crack and/or power song he is one tough adversary. Beacuse a void eld consumes more power than usual, it's tought to go straight through a bunch of mobs w/o medding...that is, unless u have MCL (which i reccomend for ur first realm ability). Being a void eld, u must remeber this....Bolt, bolt, nuke, nuke, run (if oj+), rinse, repeat.

Bolt, Bolt, Nuke, Nuke, Run....Rinse, repeat!
rong foo you bolt stun then bolt then nuke nuke :D

[Red][/Red well I haven't gone far with my Void Eld but from what I have seen with his ability he will do well as a FULL Void caster. I have friends and will be able to get grps no matter what lvl I am so I don't think I will have a problem in that department but if you can't find a grp don't worry because once you learn how to use the Void Eld to it's full potential I don't think there will be too much you can't solo unless it is just impervious to magic...in that instance you may wanna just go ahead and run like the wind. I have heard of ppl respeccing their Eld's to a totally different spec line and I think it is TOTALLY PREPOSTEROUS to even think of messing up your ALL VOID MOJO by doing something so silly...I mean all that work to get to lvl 40 and then respec OMG what kind of non-sense is that! Well as you can see I think you should go Void Eldy

VOID ELDRITCH FTW!!!!!]

Well, I have heard that void is the most common full spec, but mixing the specs a little (doing mostly one and the rest in another) is supposed to be useful, too. My eldritch is full void and good at what he does, but he does use up power like mad.

The most powerful PvE / farming caster I've seen is a mostly-Enchantments, rest Mana Enchanter. She doesn't nuke particularly well, but she can collect 4 or 5 oranges on her pet and since it casts self-heals, she doesn't have to worry (much) about healing it between sessions of focus shielding. Pretty effective and doesn't use nearly as much power, so downtime is short and xp is fast :)

I don't think it's silly respeccing at 40 to mana, i have tryed both elds, a 50 void eld and a 42 mana eld and I can tell u that void spec is nice if u got range against ur target, but if ur tartget is near it reallyyy suxxs. I've seen many 50 void elds respeccing with respec stones to mana coz they couldn't do nothing from near. If u are 50 mana u only have 1 bolt, but u have a nice pb which can save u in close attacks. A good spec would be 50 mana/20 light so u get a low lvl mezz

Mana chanter is better than mana eld for solo Pve purely because of pet. Focus shield got nerfed but u can still Focus pull as many OJ's as you like. FP was only nerfed on higher con mob (red+ & purps)

RvR..
Void can be good but the biggest problem most voidys have, is there bolts missing...a void who misses his 1st bolt in rvr aint good <sprint>! :-(

Mana eld had light DD & PBAoE, when in a grp that has a mana chanter ..the chanter will heat dbuff & your light DD will do 700+ dmg np's :-)

I have a void eld (rr5) & mana chanter rr8 (on euro server - prydwen) 9/10 i use my chanter & not my voidy due to the fact mana chanter is a very versatile class in rvr :-)... great nukes wit dbuff/pet for interupting..PB for offensive or defensive :-)

LOL i love it when people say one spec line is better than another. For the past couple months i been rerolling an eldy when i have the time just to see which spec line i like best, so far i love the Light spec. Void is nice mostly for range and aoe and the gtaoe is nice for exposing stealthers from a moderate distance, but using the same exact gear for each eldy and the spec bonus items she has goes for ALL magic lines capping each spec line, I found i'm DDing with light spec shadow spells waaaay the hell harder than i was bolting as a void eldy. Mana i like a lot because it is similiar to being a ice wizzy which i was for around 2yrs on perc server. I did pbaoe just as hard as i did with a light spec DD, but for that you HAVE to get extremely close to the enemy, in which case you best have a shield tank protecting you. another nice thing about mana is the aoe curse, which is always nice to spread amongst enemies so they can't heal, but the downside of mana is the DD spells are gimpy incomparison to other classes spells, even voids base line has a better DD then the mana spec line. but what i absolutely LOVE about the Light spec aside fromt he crazy dmg the DDs do, is the shear versatility, you get mezz, sight debuff, bonus to your debuff casting, and your stun is strong as hell, but downside is you don't have any aoe spells. EACH eldy spec has it's ups and downs, it comes down to how you play or want to play rather than merely what spec line you are.

Void Eldies are fine in groups. i've tested it with mine repeatedly. all you really need is a DEX/QUI and brain buff. hit my AE spell (say with, Finliaths at 43+) for the same damage as a mana eldie. i've never liked the fact of being in the middle of a bunch of purples trying to kill 'em as fast as possible; maybe taking aggro from the PBAE. instead i can sit back with the other casters and do as much as them without the position they'd be in. only thing is if you want cold or energy damage type. thats up to you.

here are the basics for each class broken down by spell types.

Light Eldritch - Cold / Heat damage, Best Mez in game + damage to baseline nuke Single target DD.

Void Eldritch - Cold damage + damage to baseline Bolt, 2 stat debuffer, Resist debuffer.

Mana Eldritch - energy damage PBAE, AE Damage+snare, resist debuffer.

i know i'm missing something but thats what i can remember atm.
