I'm no where NEAR getting an advanced job yet (as I am lvling my starter jobs first, to see which I like most) but I was wondering about a few of things:
1.) Which jobs are the easiest to Quest? Last I heard it was RNG and BRD.
2.) Should I try to unlock them all? (for a well rounded experience in Vana'diel)
3.) Can I quest any of these jobs on my own at lvl 30?
4.) I really like helping other people and occasionally wielding a sword. Should I lvl RDM and PLD to 75 in addition to WHM?

Advanced Jobs? To Have or Not to Have...Follow
Always glad to see a new player, and you picked just about the perfect time to join. Anyway, you asked:
BRD is by far the least difficult. I say least difficult because it does take a lot of time, but you just have to click on things. RNG can be easy depending on the job you lvled to 30 with, I'm not sure, but I think the monster you have to watch die naturally can aggro, so if you have sneak and invisible it should be easy. DRK can be easy if you lvled war to 30, hard if you didn't. BST can be easy if the kraken isn't there. I guess smn could also be considered easy...
Note: the only advanced jobs I'd consider "hard" to get would be SAM, NIN, and possibly COR.
If you know what you want to do, unlock any jobs that you feel are related to that. If you don't know what you want to do, experiment with the starter jobs a bit, but it seems like you know what you like.
The only ones that can't be soloed (in general) at lvl 30 are the ones you need to fight hard NM's for. Others, like BLU, PUP, and SCH, depend on the jobs you have lvled to make it easier (like not using oils and powders). I believe SCH is the only job where you need one of a specific group of jobs lvled.
As a general rule of FFXI, RDM's are not allowed to melee past the early lvls (Note: I'm not saying they can' for you RDM melee enthusiasts out there), so I would recommend PLD for swords and helping people, while RDM can (arguably) only help people. Although I feel the urge to point this out, if you're lvling WAR for PLD, use a great axe, you'll get enough sword skill on PLD.
You can use this site for more information about advanced jobs. If it looks like you can't solo the quest, you probably can't.
Also, what server are you on? I'm sure there are a lot of people here that would be willing to help you.

Actually you don't need to have any specific job leveled.

Basically, choosing which advanced job to unlock depends on what you want to play. Starting from the original six: For WAR and THF you'll want NIN unlocked and leveled relatively early; for MNK you'll probably want it as an option at level 74. For WHM you'll want SCH. For BLM (/WHM and /RDM) and RDM (/BLM, /WHM) the most common subs are one of the starting six jobs. RDM can and use a whole ton of other subs, the in general party play /WHM and /BLM are probably the most common.

So I don't plan on repeating anything that the previous posters have said but I should point out that you might want to consider the amount of money you have available. I'm going to assume that if you haven't reached level 30 you don't have masses of gil to throw away on leveling certain jobs. As an example, yes like you said RNG is one of the easiest Advanced Jobs to unlock (imo) however its widely accepted that RNG is also one of the most costly jobs to level. You should consider how much time you are willing to commit to making money to level your jobs. In my experience some of the more costly advanced jobs are Ranger, Ninja, and (I'm prepared to get burned for this) Bard if you aren't willing to spend your money correctly and don't have much to start with. I'm sure you can do a little research to figure out which job fits your current budget and which job you would like to save for in the long run. Just keep in mind that using consumables such as arrows or ninja tools can potentially hike the cost of lvling exponentially and as you get to higher levels the price of scrolls can get hefty.

Just to complete this info, to get your Dragoon job, you need to fight a NM too, so at lv 30 will be really hard to kill, The good thing about this NM fight is that any high-lv (40+) Dragoon, will help with pleasure.

1) BST was a joke as well, get one oil and walk down to qufim. Sneak past the kraken and get a CS... and that's about it. The quest even starts in Jeuno so there's hardly any traveling involved, which both the RNG and BRD jobs require. Not like that should ever be a deciding factor in whether you unlock a job or not, though.
2) Yes. You may be surprised at the jobs you enjoy leveling.
3) Most, yes. Shouting for help or asking friends gets the job done too.
4) Level whatever the hell you feel like. I'd actually encourage you to level EVERY job to ~40 to get a basic feel for it. Don't expect to melee much past the noob levels as RDM though.

Yep, that's extremely right. I think so far I have lvled WAR and THF and have about 40k in gil saved up and using only the armor I started with and a few Bronze additions. (I'm lvling solo right now so having stellar gear isn't on my radar)

Oh I know (I've been reading about jobs and choices on here for a few weeks). As soon as I had the money I picked up a Butterfly Axe (No Bronze available in Windy so I just used a sword.)
