Introduction

Hello everyone,
I want to touch upon the reasons why I decided to write this guide.

1. I wanted a source with comprehensive information that discussed the first 3 Promyvions (Dem, Holla, Mea) in depth.

2. I wanted a guide that would help any person who was interested in leading a Promyvion, to have the resources available to them.

3. I wanted a quick look-up that would give players who were participating in a Promyvion, a place with solid answers to there questions.

4. I wanted a wealth of information that changes with the updates that are targeted to Promyvion.

[Black]? -------------------------------------------------- ?

The flow of topics in this resource will be chronological as to my experiences involving Promyvion.

1. Preperation

2. Promyvion

3. BCNM

4. Beastiary

5. Extras

As I open with this guide, I wanted to make clear that these are my experiences with a Promyvion. I am well aware that there are ENDLESS possibilities to doing any mission in this game. I have no intention of belittling any job, method, or strategy. I welcome your thoughts, reactions, comments, critisizm, and anything you may want to add.[/White]

Preperation

1. How many partys are you going to bring?

? You may bring as little as 1 party. The smaller amount of people you bring, the less dangerous your trip will be.

? You may bring as many partys or alliances as you wish. Though you may feel very safe, your organization of the "Group" will be troublesome at times

? Only bring increments of 6 people. Any less then 6 and they will most likely have to skip out on the final fight.

2. Set a meeting place for your "Group"

? I personally recommend on top the Auction House in Lower Jeuno. You may look for party members, it is less congested up top, and you have an AH close by that you will need to use.

? Another place is Ru'lude Gardens infront of the AH. A lot less people and you still have access to items.

3. Start inviting people

? You may want to start with your LS first to see who needs them completed. Many people will be appreciated that you thought of them initially.

? Ask friends

? Start a non-annoying spam in Jeuno areas.

? Choose "party leaders" that are going to take this event seriously. You will be putting responsibilities on them.

? As you are making your party, you need to keep in mind that you must fight a BCNM with your party you are forming now. You can read countless threads on what jobs are "Good" and what jobs are "Bad". My opinion is that ALL jobs have something to offer to the final fight. I have heard, seen, and experienced countless partys with limitless possibilities for jobs. Do NOT count a job out just becuase someone may have told you otherwise. If you bring in a "Balanced" group to the fight, you will be able to make your own idea of what YOU think will work.

4. Requirements of party members

? Ask every person you invite if they have a copy of "Chains Of Promethia" the expansion for Final Fantasy XI. You may think this is common sense, but many players think that Promyvion is just part of the game when you hit 30.

? Ask every person if they have "activated" CoP for there computer by typing in there "Access Code" provided in the new manual.

? Ask every person if they have the missions that are required to enter the Promyvions. The mission names are "Below the Arks" and "The Mother Crystals". If they have not done this yet, read further. If they have, then skip to the next step. The first cutscene that you are requred to get is located in Lower Delkfutt's Tower. All you need to do is to Zone into the entrance. The second cutscene is when you zone into Upper Jeuno. The third cutscene is located in the Upper Jeuno infurmery. You must talk to the NPC sitting on the chair in order to start cutscene. The fourth cutscene is located in Ru'lude Gardens. You must head to the Knight's Quarters in the Western part of the Northern building on the map. It is NOT up the stairs. You will just be required to talk to the few Knights that are in that room for the cutscene to initiate. Now you are ready to start the Promyvions

? Ask every person if they have the next 2-3 hours available. I say this because different groups take different amounts of time to complete this mission. It is very troublesome for people to leave mid-way and spoil it for there group members that they left.

? Ask every person if they have lvl 30 equipment. These Promyvions are capped at 30. So a lvl 75 character who wants to help, needs to buy lvl 30 equipment or lower also.

? Ask every person if they have attempted a Promyvion before. If they had attempted and failed there last Promyvion, then they MUST go back to that location, and "Erase" there memory in the "Hall of Transference". They walk up to the "Large Apparatus" and select the option to do so. They will then leave the "Hall of Transference" and are ready to join your party.

5. What to bring in terms of Medicine, Food, and Drink.

? This of course varies on your party setup and what you will assign each person to do during the BCNM fight at the end. But I will give what I feel is a "Basic Guideline" on what to bring, though it will vary depending on how it is run.

? Any person even related to casting spells or dependent on MP: 2-3 Yagudo Drinks, 2 Hi-Ethers, and 2 Echo Drops.

? Any person even related to melee or dependent on HP: 2-3 X-Potions, 2-3 drinks of your choice to life regeneration.

? If you are doing Promyvion-Dem: Extra medicine from above jobs.

? If you are doing Promyvion-Holla: 5 Holy Water, and 4 Poison Potions.

? If you are doing Promyvion-Mea: 5 Antidote

6. Animas

? Animas are items that you throw at the BCNM during the Final Fight in a Promyvion.

? There are a series of steps you must follow to obtain an "Anima". Animas are created from "Drops" in a Promyvion. Any creature located in one may "Drop" the specific item. These items are named as follows:
Recollection of Pain
Recollection of Guilt
Recollection of Fear
When you obtain one of these Rare/Ex items, you may bring it to Ru'Lude Gardens and trade it to the Scientist in the North most building. His name is "Harith". You will also have to give him 2k. The "Anima" will be done immediatly.

? Depending on which "Recollection" you traded, you will get a specific Anima.

Recollection of Pain = Hysteroanima - NM will be unable to use special attacks for 20-30 seconds

Recollection of Guilt = TerroAnima - NM runs around for 20-30 seconds and does little to attack.

Recollection of Fear = PsychoAnima - NM will not use basic attacks very well for 20-30 seconds

? The effects of each "Anima" are as follows when thrown at the BCNM.

7. End of Preperation

? After you feel you have talked with everyone about all steps in the Preperation, then get everyone gathered at your location you chose in the earlier step.

? If you have a WHM in your party, and all memory that needs to be erased is erased, then Teleport to your desired Promyvion you chose to do.

? Have ALL participants wait in the "Hall of Transference" so all can be together.

? The "Hall of Transference" can be reached by "Touching" the broken Crystal at your respected Promyvion. If members are unable to "Go in". Then please review the steps in step 4.

Your role in Preperation:
Leader:

[Black]?
Congratulations on getting enough courage to Lead this great undertaking. In fact, there is nothing wrong if you wanted to Co-Lead this expedition with someone else. Make sure both of you have assigned tasks that each will do.

? You must be constantly moving this along. Large amounts of "waiting time" will just make people impatient, and feel they are wasting there time. Be talking about each step and give concern that ALL should be listening. Keep tabs on where each person is, who is on mule, and what your next step is going to be.

Participant:

? My advice to you is just have the Preperation steps done as quickly as possible. When you are finished, help other people along. This will show that you know what you are doing and others will trust your judgement in the future. You will also take A LOT of stress off of the Leader.

? Reiterating the steps even after the Leader has done so, will just move things along even more, so don't be afraid to step up to the plate.[/Black]

Promyvion

1. While in "Hall of Transference"

? Everyone should understand right now that the key to success is listening, and organization.

? Everyone should turn unneccesary filters on. You do not want to see things that do not require your immidiate attention.

? Delete unneeded /p in macros to control the Battle Chat spam.

? Toggle your damage to screen so that you do not see 16+ peoples damage on your Chat Log. It will make it impossible to read the orders given by the Leader.

? Take off your Linkshell.

? The Leader will talk to the other "Party Leaders" to review there responsibilities and jobs while in the Promyvion. Please Read "Black" section at end of "Promyvion" chapter.

? Leader: Read briefing 1 in the "Black" section at the end of "Promyvion" chapter

2. Enter the Promyvion

? When you first enter the world. Tell everyone to NOT move and just scan around for a moment.

? Leader: Go over Briefing 2 in "Black" section located at the end of "Promyvion" chapter.

? When you are done with briefing and there are no Questions, then tell everyone to "Buff up".

3. Searching for the Memory Recepticle

? At this time, while all are getting there bearings, you will will have your RNG use WideScan to find the first MR.

? Remember to avoid aggro whenever possible.

? If you want to elect someone to be a "Scout" to find the safest path to MR, do so.

? Especially avoid the monsters that are specific to each Promyvion. They are inherintly harder.
Promyvion-Dem = Gorger
Promyvion-Holla = Thinker
Promyvion-Mea = Craver

? When you do find the MR, be sure to make Camp and clear out any possible aggro within it. Remember that any mobs you kill can and WILL pop up later.

? Any fights you encounter, you want the mages to STAY BACK from the fight. All creatures have AOE attacks. 90% of them WILL emit harmful status effects that can easilly kill an entire alliance if not dealt with correctly.

4. Memory Recepticle Battle

? Be sure and make a Camp in a well thought out place.

? Be sure to remember everyone's specific job at an MR battle.

? The MR spawns mobs known as "Strays". These "Strays" hover around and protect the MR. Strays will quickly move to the biggest threat against the MR.

? A good tactic is to destroy all of the "Strays" before the fight against the MR even begins. This will allow you to keep up with the "Stray" spawn time as well as giving massive damage to the MR itself.

? Spam the remaning life of the MR every 10-15 seconds. Example "MR 50%"

? When the MR is destroyed, remind everyone that they are on a time limit for the portal. And the "Strays" must all be destoyed before anyone teleports.

? If the "Strays" are attacking any players when they are in the teleport, those players will NOT be allowed to go to the next area.

5. Moving on to the next lvl of Promyvion

? Tell everyone to Rest

? Everyone "Rebuff"

? on the 2nd lvl on to the last, there is a possibility that the MR you destroy will not turn into a teleport. These are called "Fakes". If that happens, immediatly yell "Fake" and disengage the attack on the remaining "Strays".

? Each lvl of a Promyvion gets Harder. Not only by the envirnment having more obstacles, but the mobs get tougher as well.

? Promyvion-Holla has "Fences" on the second Floor which make it difficult to move around.

? Follow the same strategy up until you get to the Last floor.

6. The Final floor of a Promyvion

? This floor has NO MR to fight. You will Zone for this.

? The creatures on this floor mean certain death to a party of 1 if not planned out entirly

? Any links in a 1 party group and it will spell catastrophe.

? You are now searching for the Castle like structure that you saw in the begining. You will zone in at the Castle entrance.

Your Role in Promyvion:
Leader: You have a LOT to do in this portion. You will be typing the entire time and need to be concrete in your decisions. Please read your briefings below in your "Group" chat at the desired times marked.

Briefing 1:

[Black]?
You will need to cover each topic I discuss below in detail. Say it how you would like to say it, everyone wants to come off differntly.

? Organization is key to victory

? Everyone needs to listen and keep chatting to a minimum

? Do not walk infront of Leader

? Only attack what Leader says to "Attack"

? Aggro from mobs can mean doom if you are not careful

? Only "Move" when the Leader says "Move"

? Set down the rules about either killing aggro on the spot if it is safe, or pull aggro to the Leader position, out of range of possible link.

? Tell your "Party Leaders" to check with you when party is full MP, HP, and ready to go. Have them also tell you when there entire party is through the MR portal.

? Remind everyone NOT to use there 2HR until BCNM fight.

? Ask "Group" if there are any Questions as to what you just said.

? Move into the Promyvion

Briefing 2:

? In this section you will be going over the MR fight, and everyones specific jobs. Make sure everyone understands what they are doing.

? RNG: Will be pulling 2 "Strays" at a time per a party. When party is fighting the "Strays". RNG will be spamming MR with Arrows. In the event that 1 arrow kills a single "Stray", you will order the RNGs to only spam MR with arrows. This will cause the "Strays" to attack the RNGs.

? BLM: Nuking MR from safe distance, backup heal if party needs it.

? RDM: Nuking MR from safe distance, backup heal if party needs it. Also Dia the MR if possible

? WHM: Heal party

? SMN: Send pet in to attack the MR. I recommend summoning Ifrit. Use his "Double Punch" Blood Pact on the MR. Back up heal if neccesary.

? Melee related jobs: Must stay in "Camp" and voke the "Strays" off of the RNGs and any mages. They must NOT get close to MR.

? BRD: MP regeneration song, and HP regeneration songs.

? When the MR is destroyed, the teleporter to the next floor is only opened for 3 min. You must kill ALL strays before you enter. People being hit by "Strays" will be left behinde.

? If the MR is not engaged, and it goes to a Neutral enemy that has not been attacked. It will regenerate life in 20% increments VERY quickly. If you have to have some down time to regroup, sleep it. The MR does NOT aggro until you attack it. That being said, you could kill ALL strays in the area, before you worry about it actually attacking you.

? Ask everyone if there are any Questions over what you just said.

? If no Questions, tell everyone "Good luck" and start buffing.

Participant:

? Please be a model player and help keep the partys quite while the Leader gets his/her message out.

? You need to be ready for a change of plan at a moments notice. Aggro, Death, DC, or just something unexpected will happen. Keep a cool head and understand that nothing goes perfectly. Just be ready to suggest something constructive and get the group moving.
[/Black]

BCNM

1. You Zone into the Spire on the last floor

? You will NOT be capped while in the Spire. But you WILL be capped while fighting the BCNM.

? Everyone should take a 5min break when all arrive.

? Stay in "Group" chat to discuss everyone's plan for the BCNM. This also gets the questions out that people need answered about the fight.

? After everyone has a "Basic" idea of what the BCNM is, and you discussed "Basic" strategy, break off into seperate partys of 6. You will then Talk about your party's plan specifically.

2. Prepare your party

? All members need to know there jobs during the fight.

? Discuss what "Can" and "Cannot" be used against the BCNM.

? Make sure Food and Medicine is evenly dispersed amongst party.

3. Rematch against the BCNM ?

? There is always the option to zone out through the back of the Arena. Also, with the update, if you entire party is dead within the BCNM, stay there for 5min and your bodys will be transported outside to the respective Spire. You will still be dead.

? If you do this tactic. Make sure NO 2HRs were used during fight. That will just make the rematch that much more difficult. Discuss your plan of action if you are going to DC and rematch BEFORE your first fight.

Your Role in BCNM:
Leader:

[Black]?
Go over seperate jobs and what you reccomend. Be sure to hear everyone out before you break off into seperate strategy. Everyone has something to offer that the "Group" may not of thought of.

? If you are fighting in Promyvion-Dem: BCNM named Propegator. Is from Gorger family.

1. Spirit Absorption - 200 damage and drain to single target.
2. At 50% life, it will start using an ability called "Fission" which spawns pets. Kiting will stop pets from spawning.
3. Promyvion Barrier - Special ability to make the "Pets" have a defense boost.

? If you are fighting in Promyvion-Holla: BCNM named Wreaker. Is from Thinker family.

1. Trinary Tap - Ability that steals status effects from the targeted player.
2. Shadow Spread - AOE Sleep and Curse
3. Impaler - Single high damage attack
4. Material Feud - Evasion boost
5. Promyvion Wind - Dispels negative effects on itself

? If you are fighting in Promyvion-Mea: BCNM named Delver. Is from Craver family.

1. Murk - AOE Slow and Sleep
2. Caroussel - AOE Damage, resets hate, and adds poison (12dmg a tick)

Participant:

? Share any information that you may know about the BCNM. Everyone wants to win, so keep the knowlege flowing.

? Listen to your party leader during the fight. Know when everyone is going to 2HR, and such.

? You MUST stop moving the NM if the SMN is going to 2HR. Otherwise, it will miss.

? If someone dies, bring them back to life. If someone DCs, just leave the Promyvion through the back, and wait for them. Keep a cool head and many possibilities will be open to you.
[/Black]

Beastiary

Important Note:

? ALL mobs in the Promyvion have a specific elemental property to them. Each mob has a "Glowing Ball" located on its own body. This color signifies the "Elemental" base property of that creature. If you see a mob with a red "Glowing Ball" then its elemental base property is Fire. You will then use your attacks accordingly to implement any weaknesses to Fire.

? All mobs increase in difficulty as you rise in the Floors. There HP, MP, Damage, and statistics ALL go up.

1. Wanderer

? Vanity Strike - Weapon Skill with single target damage.

? Empty Balegaur - Weapon Skill with AOE damage

? Aura of Persistance - Defense boost

? Mirage - Evasion boost

2. Weeper

? Empty cutter - Weapon Skill with single target damage

? Auroral Drape - AOE silence and blind

? Vacuous Osculation - single target damage with poison and Plague.

? Hexagon Belt - Defense boost

? The weeper will use an elemental AOE damaging ability depending on which element it is. Use the chart to know what attack.

Memory of Fire - AOE fire damage
Memory of Ice - AOE ice damage
Memory of Wind - AOE wind damage
Memory of Earth - AOE earth damage
Memory of Water - AOE water damage
Memory of Thunder - AOE thunder damage
Memory of Light - AOE light damage
Memory of Dark - AOE dark damage

3. Seether

? Only appears after 1st floor

? Lamentation - AOE damage and dia effect

? Wanion - AOE dispel all magic and abilites on party. That includes shadows

4. Gorger

? Only found in Promyvion-Dem

? Stygian Flatus - AOE Paralyze

? Promyvion Barrier - Defense boost

? Vanity Dive - Single Damage Weapon Skill

? Quadratic Continuum - Single Massive Damage

5. Thinker

? Only found in Promyvion-Holla

? Trinary Tap - Steals 3 buffs from selected target

? Promyvion Wind - Dispels status effects on iteslf

? Binary Absorption - Steals 2 buffs from selected target

? Negative Whirle - AOE Slow and Damage

? Stygian Flatus - AOE Plague

6. Craver

? Only found in Promyvion-Mea

? Brainspike - Single target damage

? Murk - AOE Gravity and Slow

? Promyvion Bune - AOE Damage and Poison

7. Memory Recepticle

? Does not aggro until it is directly attacked

? Spawn rate of "Strays" are MUCH lower until the MR is attacked

? Empty Seed - AOE Damage and Knockback. If you are 15 steps away from the MR, you will most likely avoid this attack

Extras

1. How do I obtain a map for the Promyvions?

? The map is obtained by recieving a certain "Drop" from a mob in Promyvion. The NM not including the BCNM has the ability to drop the item. Also the mob Promyvion specific mob has a low chance of dropping this item. Even on the first floor of the Promyvion.

? After you recieve the specified drop. You then take it to the specified floor on the Promyvion.

? Trade your item to a randomly placed "???" spot that has locations around glowing memory matter. These spots are always gaurded by 5-6 strong IT++ mobs.

? Promyvion-Dem - Beryl Memodrop
? Promyvion-Holla - Teal Memodrop
? Promyvion-Mea - Indigo Memodrop

2. Notorious Monsters

? There is a NM in every Promyvion that is NOT including the BCNM

? The NM is located on the 3rd floor in every Promyvion

? This NM takes the form of the "Special" creature that is proprietary to the Promyvion itself.

? Promyvion-Dem - Satiator
1. Possible Map drops, Rare/Ex
2. Remenant of Satiator, Rare/Ex

? Promyvion-Holla - Cerebrater
1. Possible Map drops, Rare/Ex
2. Remenant of Cerebrater, Rare/Ex

? Promyvion-Mea - Coveter
1. Possible Map drops, Rare/Ex
2. Remenant of Coveter, Rare/Ex

Conclusion

I wish you the BEST of luck against whichever Promyvion you decide to attepmt. This guide will be changing when people learn more about each creature, special tactics, or just some good advice. I am constantly adding new sections and want your experiences and feedback as well.

I THANK YOU for taking the time to read this Guide. Many people helped make this guide possible. I want to thank my LS [Holy]. I thank the several people who let me join there partys as support. And Dogbreath who spent all his time and money helping me.

Side Note: I will "Rate up" for ideas, information, battle experiences, or anything that could help people doing a Promyvion. This Guide is to help people get through these missions in the easiest and most effective manner.

A goood guide, thanks for compiling it. The only suggestion I have is to change the color of that blue that you used, seeing as it is very hard to read against the blue background.

Great guide Dark, thanks for the help. After going on those promyvians with you, which you have memorized and still dont have the maps for, I realized how good your guide is. This is by far the best guide that I've seen so far, and I doubt there is much that could be improved upon.

Thank you for the change in color comment. I guess I should of payed more attention to it. But it does look a lot better now.

As for the comment about changing the Holla and Mea boss around. I was a little careless and switched those. I appreciate your help in catching that.

I will be adding more later to it ^^

The most complete guide I've seen on Promevions, great job Dark. This is basically a script of everything you did when you lead my PT, and it worked every time. Thanks

Just an addition for your Prom-Mea BCNM... it has an incredibly strong AoE attack, Promyvion Bune, I believe it was called.... ended up leading to our failure

Just one thing I wanna say about this. It has been my experience that the timer on the portal doesn't begin until the first person has gone through. Anyways thats how we took it when we did Promyvion Dem. But please feel to correct me if I'm wrong about that. If that should be the case, make sure NOBODY moves on to the next level until all the Strays are dead. Once they are all dead, then everyone should move to the portal and go as a group.

Another thing about the strays, for you mages, Look at the color of the light within them. That color is the color of the element they are based on. So magic attacks of the element strong to the color will be more effective.
-Example:
Color Yellow=Earth, attack with water (I believe?)

I apologize if that should be wrong, I was always terrible with elemental weaknesses :)

One final note with my experience with Pormyvion Dem, is that Astral Flow is VERY GOOD to have. I won't say that it is necessary to have someone with Astral Flow, but I will say it made our job that much easier.

Hello Kametatsu,

Thank you very much for your insight on a new attack. I have fought that BCNM many times and must have missed it. I will add it to my collected information.

Along with Promyvion Bune, do you know if it was just AOE damage? Did it have a status effect of some sort?

Thanks again, Kametatsu.

Hello JoranDax,

1. I appreciate your insight on my post. To answer your first question, the portal (after the update) has a life expectancy of 3min as soon as the portal pops. It is much more time then before the update. I guess it was very difficult before. But, I also was curious about what you proposed about when the portal time starts. I went out to each Promyvion with a party and destroyed the MR. We then timed how long the portal was open until it shut without anyone going in. Unfortunatly, the portal still uses the time limit even if your party waits and does not go in. I appreciated the other way you were looking at it though.

2. To talk about the elemental weakeness of each mob in a Promyvion is of course a very good idea. I had it posted at the beginning of the Beastiary section. But, I can understand if I did not put enough time into it. I will add more information to that section due to the fact it is very important.

3. I could not agree more with you JoranDax. "Astral Flow" is a VERY powerful and good to have during the BCNM. The reason I do not stress jobs, or party set ups at this point is to avoid negotiations about that very subject. I am going to add a section in the future about it. There are enough threads and battle experiences to draw conclusions unto what jobs are "Good" in a Promyvion. I personally have gone with just about every job and feel that no one should be left behind becuase of there passion for a particualar job.

I want to thank you again for your knowledge that you bring to this subject. I will get started expanding the section I talked with you about.

The NM in Dem is the Satiator. Someone randomly caught aggro from it, and the alliance decided to throw caution to the wind.

It was just like every other gorger, just a bit tougher. Our twelve members had no problem with it.

It dropped two map "drops" and a Rare/Exclusive "remnant of the satiator". It looks just like the regular memory remnants. I have no idea what it does, and have not seen any mention of this item.

If anybody can shed some light, I would be much obliged.

Can't remember if Bune had any status effects attached to it, but next time I try Mea, I'll keep a closer eye out for it... going to try to attempt Dem with this info, seems pretty solid

Hello Kametatsu,

Thank you for offering your help in this matter. I feel that I am nearing the completition of the Beastiary. Any information that you would have to aid us would be incredible.

On another note, there are still 2 Glitchs in Promyvions.

1. When the RNG uses the ability to "Cloak", they will end up either not seeing the party, or not seeing themselves even though the ability is suppose to wear off. Just a word of caution

2. Promyvion-Dem BCNM will use Fission even at beginning of battle. It will show itself spawning a pet, but will go off into oblivien and never see it again. So if you encounter this, don't worry and stay calm.

Tonight, when I have more time, I will address my thoughts on the NM issue concerning drops and what they might be for. I will try and get some possibilities for you ArriaBismarck. Thank you again for the information!

Some special attack updates:

Gorgers can use Spirit Absorption. I have seen this personally while trying to solo one as a BLM.

Cravers (and Delver of course) can use Promvyion Bune. AOE damage + NASTY poison.

Also a note - Beastmasters are VERY useful for the Memory Receptacle fights. As of the update, the strays link to the MR, but if the PT pulls the strays off the pet, a single BST pet can take the MR down as much as 50-75%. The main damage the pet will take will be from the strays. (5-10/hit, compared to a very slow 45-50 from the MR itself) CrabFamiliar hits for 30-60, Carrie 45-70.

The first cutscene that you are requred to get is located in Lower Delkfutt's Tower. All you need to do is Zone into the entrance. The second cutscene is located in the Upper Jeuno infurmery. You must talk to the NPC named " " in order to start cutscene. The third cutscene is located in Ru'lude Gardens. You must head to the Knight's Quarters in the Western part of the Northern building on the map. It is NOT up the stairs. You will just be required to talk to the few Knights that are in that room for the cutscene to initiate.

Correction to this. There are actually 4 cutscenes. The second will activate as soon as you enter upper jueno. Then the infirmary and the gaurd post.

Other than that you have made a good guide. Thank you. Getting a Promy run started is pretty hard when not everyone is informed of the facts or thinks they know whats right without giving anyone else a chance. Keep up the good work.

On t he new NM Rare/Ex Drops.

I've no idea exactly, but there was an Elvaan NPC in Jeuno (Lower or Upper, I cant rememeber exactly) Dressed mostly in black. He was in a building/shop.

I'm not sure if he was there pre-patch, but from talking to him, He seemed like he was interested in the Empty......

......Unless he is in love and talking about his Empty Heart....

Hello Master Kesac,
I can't thank you enough for the special attacks update. I will add those accordingly to the guide. I have been very wrapped up doing Promyvions recently for research, and have not had as much time to actually get it down on this thread. Keep up the excellent work.

Hello Dragoonfyre,
I want to say "Thank You" for catching my oversight. I had done those Cutscenes so long ago, I totally forgot about that one. I will change that in my Guide.

Keep bringing in your ideas and experiences. This helps so many people. I can't thank everyone enough who have responded.

I haven't been to Promyvion yet but am hoping to make my first trip soon. This guide will be helpful. Just one question, though: what's a "stray"?

Hello Dehrian,

Sorry about not being more clear on that. I agree that I really was vague when I talked about the actual creature itself. I added these lines to the Guide in hopes that it is more understandable.

The MR spawns mobs known as "Strays". These "Strays" hover around and protect the MR. Strays will quickly move to the biggest threat against the MR.

A good tactic is to destroy all of the "Strays" before the fight against the MR even begins. This will allow you to keep up with the "Stray" spawn time as well as giving massive damage to the MR itself.

In all honesty, I should add a section for them in the beastiary. The problem is, they go down so fast with the newest update, that there weakenesses are practically unneeded. Any RNG can one shot a stray. And a Melee can down it in 2. But, if you have any more questions about them, please do not hesitate to post.

Thank you for your Question. I hope this helps.

Finished Promy-Holla last night in large part thanks to this guide. I can't stress or agree how important it is to ONLY MOVE when the LEADER says move. Our party got split up last night for a short time b/c people started running ahead and almost got killed.

Additionally try to stay as close as possible to each other when moving. I know the lag may be bad, if it is turn OFF shadows and other effects. As a seasoned puller, I'm pretty good at judging aggro distances and saw this almost disaster coming. Our train of PCs got too long and picked up aggro and links from 2 sides (4 mobs) (pincher (sp?) attack):

2x Mob > Us < 2x Mob

Luckily we were only on the 3nd floor mostly toughs and pulled through with only 1 death but mages needed rest and 1 of the tanks needed a raise.

However, the point is don't let your train of PCs get too long.

Also if I could do that battle again, we only had 2 anima. Everyone but the SMN 2HRed and used Anima at mid point. Personally if I could do it again, I would have waited until just over 1/3 HP to start using 2 hrs and anima with that little anima.

We got the NM down to a sliver and it was spamming special attacks and I swear it was regenerating HP...not sure exactly what it was doing to get HP back forgot to scroll back through the log, I was excited, tired and jittery...luckily the SMN waited to about 1/4 HP and Astral flow combined with some fierce fighting we managed to pull it off barely with only 1 casualty. All MP was wasted. We all had reraise scrolls so our one casualty got back and started fighting again at the end of the fight! ^^

Anyway good luck to you all. Just wanted to talk about a couple of the things that almost spelled disaster for our trip.

Here's been my expereince with the Promyvions:

Shade gear does intimidate the boss. Also, you do not have to be engaged for the Empty Killer to take effect. I grabbed hate during our Dem run and intimidated the boss twice as I kited him.

Medicines are very important. Didn't use any in Mea and got very lucky. Didn't use any in Dem at first and failed 3 times (once I took meds, next two times everyone did). Used them in Holla (forgot my Yag drinks though ><) and won first time.

Kiting can help out. We kited the Dem boss and that strategy ended up winning us the Promy. For the Holla boss, we had the tank actually tank the boss. Anyone who got aggro kited the boss around until the tank could get back hate (basically voke timer) keeping close enough to one of the mages for healing. I lent our tank two pieces of Shade gear I had bought for my Rdm. By the time I calmed down enough to read the battle log, half the battle was off screen, but there were three instances of intimidation caused by the gear not sure if there were any earlier.

Meds I took (as both Blm/Rdm and Rdm/Blm):

Dem
Rollandberry Pie (Rdm)
Yagudo Drinks x4
Muslum x12
Ether x2
Hi-Ether x3
X-Potion x2

Holla
Apple Pie +1 (Blm)
Ether x2
Muslum x 14
X-Potion x2
Echo Drops x12
Poison Potions x12
Holy Water x12

What I should have brought to Dem:
au laits

and to Holla:
Yagudo Drinks
Eye Drops x12
Antidotes x12
Melon Pie+1

Medicine is very expensive. I didn't keep a running total, but I'm guessing I spent 50k+ on meds/food/drinks for four Promyvion runs. It is best if the entire group has meds (I divided up holy waters, posion potions, echo drops, and some potions to other team members, you dont need a full stack yourself). Be careful with some ethers. There is a casting delay penatly (I even knew there was one, and still was surprised for a couple seconds). I tried to spread things out. Kept myself under juice most of the battle. Used one of the ethers early. Next time I needed an MP boost, chugged as many Muslums as I could. Then followed up with an ether when needed.

Promyvion Mea

My party setup

Rng/Nin
Nin/War
Sum/Whm
Blm/Rdm (me)
Whm/Blm
Sam/???

Other party

Rng/Nin
War/Nin
Whm/???
Sum/Whm
???/???
???/???

Can't rembmer the third party.

Our LS joined with our sister LS to create parties for a Mea raid. We had a full alliance plus some (didn't know at the time that you were warped outside if you won ;.; so 3 ppl didn't get to fite).

An old friend who had completed two other promys came with us and guided us to the top. We were able to get to the top w/out much incident (one person missed a teleported and we dropped a level to pick him up). Considering this was our first Promy adventure we did pretty good. This was the only Promy we were able to do before the patch.

Our party was doing really well against the boss until it got to 30% or so. Then it started doing carosell (sp?) and AOE attack. Hate started bouncing around between the Whm and Rng. I used my first anima, the psychoanima, and intimidated it for 30s. I tried using my terroanima, but it didn't activate. I'm pretty sure I was too far away. Rng went down followed by Whm, then our Nin tank and Sam. I switched from nukes to healing the Smn as he continued to 2hr (not sure how many he got off, 2 or 3). I survived with 19 HP and our Smn was in the red, but we won! ^^b GO RAMUH! One of our other graoups made it successfully, the other one did not ;.;.

I then went 1/4 on Dem. Our first time there (two LS parties, we were 1/2). Dem was very very frustrating. Even with 2 anima each we still had issues. Our party that beat it was:

Rng/Nin
War/Nin
Blm/Rdm
Whm/Sum
Sum/Whm
Rdm/Blm (me)

We did the kiting strategy. I went in and Elemental Seal + Gravity. Then the War/Nin would kite the boss around. I reapplied Gravity either as it wore or became available. I wasn't able to bind the boss, but I could bind the offsprings.

Now maybe it was a fluke, but after the first offspring spawned, our rng went to kill it; however, his shot on the boss grabbed hate and the offspring and the boss went for him. When the boss ran over the offspring, the offspring disappeared. Not sure if that was supposed to happen. Anyone else notice this? I was able to bind the offsprings though, buying time for mages or our rng to kill it. Also, try to keep the offspring near the boss when your Smn goes to 2hr. A single 2hr will wipe out any offsprings. If you can control the offsprings and keep your Smn alive long enough, you should win.

Holla had me worried (I think actually all of us, since it was our last promy till Meadows and our recent bout with Dem). Getting to the Holla boss sucks worse than the other two. Fences bar your way. Mobs aggro across fences. We went up with our party and another party that had been farming animas. We had five people die after someone D/Ced and the groups got seperated. We were able to reform, raise and continue on. We didn't want to stress out our Whm (whose main goals were keeping the tank and rng alive), so everyone had meds both to restore HP, status effects, and MP. Our party setup was:

War/Nin
Blm/Rdm (me)
Rng/Nin
Whm/Smn
Smn/Whm
Smn/Whm

Our Smns were worried that the AOE sleep would stop their 2hr ability by sleeping the avatar (which did delay one of the Smns 2hr). We had three psycho animas and at least two hysteranima. One person would save their psychoanima for an emergency. Smns saved their 2hr till boss was 40%ish left. When the Smns were ready for 2hr, they said so in party chat. Second Smn waited for the first Smns first Astral Flow to hit and the first Smn was getting ready for their second Astral Flow before using 2hr. Right before first Smn used Astral Flow one person used a Psychoanima to paralyze the mob. Then after about 20 seconds I used my Psychoanima and shortly after after a Hysterioanima. I then used my 2hr about the time as the second Smns first Astral Flow (completely ignoring hate at this point). Finishing blow was mine with a resisted Firaga for 19 dmg! ^^V lol Medicines are a must for this battle.

Hello Unusedname and Xave,

I can't thank you both enough for your battle reports you brought in. It helps so many people accomplish these Promyvions knowing setups and what to expect when they enter. I truly appreciate your posts.

I have recieved the Rare/Ex drop from the NM in Promyvion-Holla. I have tried trading it to the "Memory Flux" and to the NPC that turns Recollections into Animas. Both did NOT work. I am spending a lot of my time researching what I could possibliy to with it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I am adding information everytime something needs to be added. If you have a specific question you want answered, please post it on this thread.

Thank you again everyone for what you bring to this Guide, it could not be done without you.

P.S. I am still rating up for good information brought to my attention.

Hello WingChild,

It is great to have you post here. I just checked out your Guides and they look incredible. It looks like you enjoy your time in Promyvions as much as I do.

As far as cross checking our information I think that would be a great plan. Anything to help out the good of the players is something I am always up for. I have been doing Promyvions that past couple of days to find Enemy Abilities and have turned up short. I think we are nearing the end. I will keep adding to my Guide and answering the players questions. If there is pressing information that you think needs to be added, please send me a PM and I will gladly add it to my post.

Thank you for your post and I hope we can mutually benifit with our compiled information.

Hello everyone,

I am happy to see that so many people have used this Guide. I have recieved numerous in game /tells and messages about success.

I am of course constantly trying to find new ways of improving it also. I am going to add a section talking about the "New" Animas that were recently found out. I will also try and post about a special weapon you are able to get specifically for Promyvions.

Thank you so much for the great feed back. This Guide exists for the great players of FFXI and I could not be more happy to help out.

After last nights Promyvion-Mea that you ran, I know that your guide is as good as it could be. You took a full alliance through there, and got us to the top as well as getting 2 of the parties to beat Delver. The other party would have succeede as well, if there were not other complications that were outside of your control. But by doing exactly as you say to do in your guide, you helped to make the night a success for us. One more thing, like withsilverwings said, This guide should be sticky.

Hey Dark, its Pheblobond, from the LS Myrmidon. Just to tell you, the LS took out the Holla boss with ease. Party was PLD/WAR, RNG/NIN RDM/BLM WHM/BLM and SMN/WHM x2. All we had were a couple hi-ethers for PLD and WHM, and a few Hi-potions for the PLD. Personally, i find Holy water here to not be worth the cost, as our party thought the loss of HP was negligible. We all used 2 hours. Both SMN 2-houred, then WHM Bene, then I, as RNG, Eagle Eye Shot and finally, PLD Ininvible, to grab the hate to finish it. All in all, I dont remember our clear time, but it was under 7 minutes and very easy. As far as the mobs on the way to the 4th floor go, as long as you dont get adds, any group of half-way decent players can take them, just like normal xp mobs. All in all, we found it to be pretty easy.

And rate up for the guide, very good. ^^

Hey hey, DP. Grats on the sticky; you deserve it.

I have a whm, blm, thf, war, and drg all leveled to at least 30. I dont have nin even unlocked, because I refuse to cater to the masses and sub trashman/nin just to please the biased server.

That being said, I'd be more than happy to go whm/blm or blm/whm on the events. I have the gear for both jobs all set up (shame I cant use my wisdom rings though), so whatever the party needs, I'll use. I wont use thf or drg, because they are inefficient (once again catering to the biased server), so just fill me in on what I should bring when everything gets worked out.

Thanks!

Hello, sorry I am at work and dont have time to finish reading the entire thread. I did get to read all of darks Guide :) awsome :) Anyways I just want to add one thing (sorry if it has been said already, like I said I am out of time) In my experience in Promyvion Holla, the NM in the BCNM fight didnt start to use Curse/Sleep AOE untill it was about half dead or lower. Just figured I would let everyone know, the fight gets much more difficult once you have taken half of its life or so.

There seem to be a bit of confusion with Holla and Mea, and i'm curious, as this can easily spell the difference between success and failure:

which status effect does each do?

Someone mentionned echo-drop, and Im almost sure I had silence casted on me while farming animas, so i'm pretty sure one of the bosses will do it too...

So, which one exactly silence, curse, poison and sleep, etc? (wouldnt want to forget poison potions and get slept thinking that the mob doesn't sleep @.@ )

I know its all written up there, but seems like there are some conflicting reports, so I'd like confirmation, if possible. Thank you ^_^

Hello Sareko,

I can understand that you may have many differing reports about what to use on what BCNM. I will try to clear it up for you.

Promyvion-Holla = Poison Potions and Holy Water

Promyvion-Mea = Antidote

In both cases, you need to bring the food and echo drops that I have talked about in the guide.

If you have any further questions, please feel free and ask.

Good luck on your next Promyvion.

Weeper-type enemies have a Weapon Skill called Auroral Drape that inflicts blindness and silence on everyone within range; for this reason, all spell-users should bring a few drops along just in case. (The AoE isn't very large, but space is a concern when avoiding aggro while fighting.) However, as of yet there are no Weeper-type bosses.

So bring Echo Drops for every promy, Antidotes for Mea, and Poison Potions/Holy Water for Holla.

Hello Nekovivie,

Thank you for your question in regards to kiting. To be honest, this is not a stupid question at all. I have completed 100+ Promyvions in Final Fantasy XI, and there are always melee of some sort who have not really heard of that term before. It is a special technique that will not be used much in the xp grind as it is.

Kiting is the act of gaining the creatures hate, and running away keeping distance between you and that creature. Think of you holding a string in your hands and the rope is inbetween you and the mob you are kiting. The mob represents the kite. By doing this with the correct conditions of throwing a gravity down on the creature or any such way to slow it down, you will actually have the mob follow you around the entire arena. The best part is it won't even lay a hand on you. When you start to lose hate, have you or another provoker there gain hate again and continue to kite the mob. This will keep it off of the magic users and RNGs when they need there time most. Do not engage the mob when kiting. Just voke and run.

I hope that helped answer your question. If you need anything else, please feel free and ask. Good luck on your Promyvion, Nekovivie.

Plz pardon my ignorance but what is the reward for doing Provymions? There's so little information on CoP. I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me to the a link on CoP.

Thanks.

Excellent Guide!!! Using this guide and customizing our party's strategy we was able to beat all three Promyvions with no deaths and no one every going into the yellow. (taking the record in Dem and holla)

Party setup: Nin, Rng, Rng, Sam, Whm, Whm (12 animas each run Psycho and Hystero)

First off I cant stress the importance of Hysteroanima and Psychoanima. Our party always had both and when timed correctly can keep the boss from ever using an attack. I found it easier to macro anima usage instead of trying to type it out or making a party remember when to go. I used the following macro set to keep it organized.

example:

/item "Hysteroanima" <t>
/wait 3
/p <call1> "party member" use Psychoanima now
/wait 20
/echo **********
/echo **********

---------

/p <call1> "party member" use Hysteroanima now
/wait 3
/p <call1> "Party member" use Psychoanima now
/wait 20
/echo **********
/echo **********

The echo gave me a easy to read heads up when to use the next macro even through all the battle spam.

Shade gear isnt a must but your missing out on a great effect if you dont have atleast one piece if your a tank. I used the shade harness and shade mitten with my nin and that few secs the mob is intimidated will help when you need to cast utsusemi.

Going up each floor was pretty easy with our single party. When we would get to a MR our Rngs would fight the MR while me and the Sam handled the strays. Staying together and following in a straight line behind your scout will keep links to a minimum. Just to note: we did encounter agro on the top floor of mea (Weeper) and got another Weeper as a link and killed both with our pt setup. Getting agro or links on the top floor isnt game over if you and your party keep a cool head and work as a team. ;)

The Boss fights were basically the same: By keeping it enfeebed with animas we never had to use ethers, hi-pots, holy waters or antidotes. We didnt feel like taking any chances and used the poison potions for Holla though. Rngs and Sam would 2hr @ 30% and down it went.

I hope my post helps everyone trying to finish these. I wish everyone good luck in the battles to come and hope to see new faces in meadows of ifrit soon. ^.^

The method that I have been using to help some of my LS members get through Promyvions has been partly taken from the various guides around and partly made up. I take a group of WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, WAR/NIN, RNG/NIN, RNG/NIN & RNG/NIN (if somebody REALLY needs it and only has say... DRK job available, they can fill this spot).

Basically, the BLM starts with Elemental Seal + Paralyze and the WAR/NIN kites the mob around and around, only stopping to recast Utsusemi. The rangers line up on the left, top and right side of the arena and pot shot the NM with Zamburak+1 and Holy Bolts, with a few Acid Bolts at the start for good measure. You should be able to work the NM down to about half HP or a bit below quite quickly. At this point simply throw an Anima at it to distract it for a bit. All 3 RNG rush in and execute Eagle Eye Shot, immediately followed by Sharpshot > Barrage and then finally WS the NM. Often it dies at the EES stage.

Very easy strategy and works for every one of the NM's.
