Possible ReturnFollow

My husband and I played last in 2009 or so and are thinking of returning. Before we spend all the money on games and codes, etc., I have a couple questions I was hoping someone here could with:

1. It looks like we just missed the Return Home Campaign - is it still possible to get our old stuff back or do we have to start over? It has been about 5 years since we played, but we never actually cancelled our accounts, we just gradually stopped playing, intending to return and the payment was set up automatically, but our card numbers have changed since then, so the payments stopped obviously.

2. My husband was playing on PS2, but wants to switch to Xbox. We can't seem to find the game for xbox for less than $100 new. Found several used - can you buy the codes anywhere?

3. I've read some threads about people not being able to return because of payment method issues - I'm in the US, is this potentially still a problem? I would hate to spend money on games and codes and go through the whole process to get set up to find out we can't play because of payment issues.

4. Any other advice or information someone returning needs?

Thanks!

Probably. This really depends. There are no guarantees unfortunately but it is likely that if you didn't delete your character it is still there. You will need to do some funky stuff with setting up a square enix ID etc but if you remember all your passwords etc I doubt it will be a problem.

I am pretty sure you can set up your SE account etc without paying any money - and if your characters are still easy to get at they should appear in the "options list"

Codes are device neutral, so just buy a PC code and you can access your account with xbox. Just apply the code to your square enix account and then access that account through your xbox. All expansions for xbox must be installed through discs though, so make sure you get a disc with all the expansions you want to access.

Those are one-off problems, not widespread. It's hard to say though. If you are flexible with your payment methods you should be fine. Even if for some reason you have issues with direct billing your credit card you can pay your fees through paypal using crysta or use a game card you can buy at walmart/corner stores or whatever, so it's not insurmountable.

Even if you can't recover your characters, it's worth returning. The game has never been easier to get into, a lot of the grind has been removed and with a built-in duo buddy (I am so jealous) you guys will have no end of stuff you can do.

Just to touch on the point that the game is easier to get into now, the game is vastly different from what it was. It kind of has to be since there are less people playing. You get a bunch of NPC buddies (up to 3 summoned at once) that dont hurt exp at all. You can use them to complete most missions (but not WoTG for some reason). Exp has been doubled, and with fields of valor & grounds of valor getting leveled up is quick. I just recently came back as well and binge leveled dragoon to 75 just because i could. Took me about 1 week. Could have been done faster using abyssea (less than a day) but its hard getting into an abyssea party to leech. At 75 people tend to not mind taking you since you can contribute to the fights.

Anyway welcome back. Im sure you guys wil have a good time gettingback into it. You can pretty much camp any NM now and level to your hearts content.
