Xbox 360 Controller Setup?Follow

#1 Mar 06 2014 at 7:30 PM Rating: Good
I am despertly trying to figure out how to configure my xbox controller for the pc. Can someone Please help!?

Basically I am trying to get it to work as it would on a regular xbox, the pc detects the controller and blah blah, but my main issue is the camera angle is set to LT+RT and not the right stick, and I cannot figure out how to change this, and I've been searching the web like crazy.

If someone knows, please let me know :)

I can't help you specifically since I've never used a wired xbox 360 controller. I'm more fond of PS2/PS3 like controllers.

That said, search for Final Fantasy XI config (yes it should be spelled like that) and click Gamepad Settings. It's prolly the default config it's on; check around, and you might have to do this custom to get it to go on the stick. To do that, hit Camera and go from there.

If I'm wrong, someone who uses that needs to step up to help.

I'm not using a wired ( so to speak ) I am using a wireless xbox controller plugged into a play and charged kit with an xbox 360 reciever so my pc can read the controller.

The only issue is the darn camera I can't get it set to the right analog stick. To where the lt+rt should be my macro and not camera.

1st thing is to make sure you have your controller configured in windows using the game controller configuration tool. 2nd thing to do is to launch ffxi config and select gamepad then just manually choose what u want each control to do.

I'm there, like I said though, I cannot for the love of god figure out how to put the camera on the right analog stick.

Over the last few days I've done so much reading and cannot figure it out, everything is SO outdated when I search.
I'd also like LT+RT to be my macro's but in all honesty I'd like to worry about getting this camera problem solved :/

In ffxi config setup utility there is a "camera" option select it it will ask u which button u want the camera on, push up on your right analogue stick and press button "A" on the controller to assign it.

I've tried that but for some reason it just won't read for some reason, I haven't a clue why.

In the ffxi config utility open gamepad menu, in the top right corner make sure that "enable gamepad" and "enable hat switches" are both ticked/enabled. Then try by button 1 I mean the green button on your xbox360 controller marked as "A". Then selece camera a small box opens it will tell u to push up on the and press button 1, Push your right analogue stick up/forward, then press the green button on your controller, watch the screen in the box where it told u to push up it will now tell u to push down then right then left pressing the green button each time. the only thing which changes is the direction word in the same box each time so it's easy not to notice it after that is done that box will vanish and be replaced with a confirmation box, this should have a small crossair in it that u can move around with your right analogue stick check that it moves and then confirm it and that should be that. If it still doesnt work after that then either u have it assigned to a different function already and will have to unassign it first or your computer isn't recognising the input in which case u will need to configure it in windows first.

turn the controller on - go to control panel> devices and printers> you should see a picture of your xbox controller click on it and then on properties and then on the configuration wizard.

Awesome! I got it to work finally.

Final question, is there a way to get the macro ( ctrl-alt ) assigned to LT-RT?

#15 Mar 10 2014 at 5:38 PM Rating: Decent
In a manner of speaking there is but it requires 3rd party software such as "Xpadder" which isn't easy to use lol. It basically allows u to map key presses to the triggers - but what I did was just set the macro pallettes up on the buttons above the triggers instead.

Oh the LB-RB? I could do that. By any chance do you know the button numbers on the layout?

For me they are buttons 5 and 6. I assume Left is 5 although not certain lol. I am glad you got it to work in the end.
