Good points above. My take on the current login campaign rewards:
1) Lion Trust cipher (500 points) can only be obtained from this campaign, at least for now. So if you want it, better grab it.
2) Limbus AF+1 upgrade items (100 points each). Not particularly difficult to farm Limbus yourself, but getting all the drops you need can be tedious with a daily restriction and random nature of the drops. They're cheap, you can send from mules-mains (same account), and they're pretty useful seeing as how AF+1 requires half as many Rem's Tales (5) to upgrade to level 109 gear as regular AF (needs 10). If you're overflowing with Rem's Tales and don't have many jobs to upgrade, maybe it's not as useful for you. This campaign has Temenos item, previous one had Apollyon item, wouldn't be shocking to see it rotate in future login campaigns.
3) Money drops: the two best options are Devious Dice and Beastly Shanks.
3a) Beastly Shanks (1000 points each):
* Note that if you're just going to bazaar the Beastly Shank (~200-250k bazaar price on my server), you'd make more money with Dice (see below).
* If you're willing to put in some effort and take a bit of risk popping Behemoth, the chance of getting a Savory Shank (~3mil bazaar price on my server) is worth it over time. Bring Treasure Hunter, it helps. Easy solo for any competent lv99 THF/DNC with item-level gear, very easy for THF+healer duo.
* I've popped quite a few Beastly Shanks with my THF, average final TH value at TH9~10, and I'm something in the neighborhood of 1/4 rate on Savory drops (sometimes lucky enough to get 2/3, sometimes I've gone without a shank for 5 or more pops). Supposing I hit my roughly 25% average: 4000 points for 1 Savory = 3mil gil = 750gil/point.
3b) Frayed Sack of Deviousness (Devious Dice) (1000 points each pouch):
* Much easier money since you get dice instantly. No fighting involved, just put em in your bazaar. Can buy with mules and send to main or trade to anyone. Can have multiples (as opposed to "rare" tagged Beastly Shanks that you can only have 1 at a time per character), so you can spend a bunch of points at once without worrying about buy item/pop/repeat.
* Lower reward for your 1000 points than getting lucky with a Savory Shank, but more consistent money (you can totally strike out on Savory Shank drops, but you'll always get at least 10 dice)
* Random amount of dice, 10-20 per pouch
* Haven't taken a big dive in bazaar price on my server; they seem to still sell easily for 30k even now that the login campaign is finished and everyone's clearing out their points. If going dice price really tanked, they'd obviously become less valuable. But from what I'm seeing it doesn't seem they'll drop enough to make them a bad choice.
* So, 1000 points = 10-30 dice, sell at 30k each = 300,000-600,000 gil for your 1000 points (300-600 gil per point, we'll just say 450gil/point as an average)
* You could probably even sell them for more than 30k a pop, but I'm estimating low end of reasonable to account for increased supply from last minute point spenders.
Stuff that's NOT a good buy for your points if you're trying to convert to gil:
a) Frayed Sack of Liminality (2000 points): costs twice as many login points as Sacks of Dice, has the same random 10-20 items in the sack as dice, and residue aren't twice as valuable as dice (my server they sell consistently for ~40-50k each, as opposed to ~30-40k for dice). Only reason to buy with points is if you're actually using the residue yourself for an Empyrean WS and you don't want to hunt for them in others' bazaars (residue do seem to be a bit uncommon) or farm them yourself in Walk of Echoes. I actually did buy a couple sacks myself this time, but solely for the convenience.
b) AF109 craft items (2000 points): even the most valuable ones right now are going for about 200k on my server. You can spend HALF the login points for a sack of dice that will get you more money even if you have bad luck and get the lowest possible quantity of dice (e.g. 10 dice @ 30k each = 300k gil for only 1000 login points). And that's assuming worst possible luck with dice amount.
