Level Sync System Revisit - Possible?Follow

#1 Aug 04 2013 at 2:46 AM Rating: Decent
So, I cannot post on the official forums until I officially return to Final Fantasy XI next week so I thought I would bring the topic into discussion for all the veterans that still visit these forums as well as the newcomers.

I think the Developers should revisit Level Sync and allow people to set the levels themselves. All I see is the positives arising from this which would definitely help newcomers in the end and maybe even stimulate the economy. And also let veterans such as myself conquer older content that may have been previously level capped and now it's gone. Maybe I want to do a Dunes party without worrying about someone to sync to or perhaps relive the Bomb Toss days in Bibiki Bay. Hey, I may want to stay level 30 and stay in the level 30 gear until level cap. I would love that choice and freedom!

Maybe I want to farm a certain ingredient and get crystals/experience/beastman seals in addition. I personally think if they revisited it and allowed everyone to set their own sync level it would bring a lot of life back to all the older content. If there are any negatives I would love for someone to respond as it has been awhile since I have played due to real life. Thanks and I hope what I wrote was not too long winded!

Quick Question: Would people still bother with GoV levelling parties/alliances if this were implemented? I personally know 5 friends that would love to party all day in Yuhtunga or Qufim Island and other oddball areas we have found.

It's been one of those things I believe should've sprung up since shortly after sync's implementation. The other big issue with it was how gear actually scaled, if at all. As for it changing how the general populace perceives leveling these days, I'm going to shoot for the negatory. The old 6-man grind is still an option for those who crave it, but good luck finding people willing to settle for less EXP or to even travel to the more obscure locations when they could've otherwise just went to Gusgen, CN, or mooched an Abyssea party.

Unless and until FoV is updated to give the same level of buffs to XP etc. as GoV I don't expect to ever see much FoVing, the 'loss' of XP there compared to GoV is just too large.

Gusgen is just too attractive, easy mobs which can be ploughed through with a decent respawn rate compared to kill speed.

I think this is a great idea and I would like to see it implemented. I don't think it would replace GoV book burns, but it would provide a nice alternative to them.

Doing this would not kill GoV. GoV parties would just set the level sync to the highest possible level that can get credit. No worries about moving people around so that every party has a sync. And since a lot of people will be the highest possible level you could probably have 50% AFK and still somewhat quickly kill your target mobs.
