Sorry to bother you all, I haven't been on this website for quite awhile, and I hope I'm not wasting anyone's time.

Spent many years (2006-2009 or so, all on ps2) playing this game, which I loved. My home was Seraph, which moved to Bismarck. I tried a few years ago starting back up, but with all my former friends no longer around, I just didn't have the same feeling. I still miss the joy I got from playing this game, and surprisingly still remember a lot of the fun stuff I did. The feelings of exploration I think I miss the most, exploring new zones with friends was probably the greatest gaming experience I've ever had. One thing I enjoyed was crafting, and when I restarted a few years back I finally got Alchemy to 100 (my greatest achievement, I guess). I also remember trying to go through the WOTG deal, getting stuck in the Elvaan country (been so long cant quite remember the name). Anyway, I remember the last thing I did was give away all the expensive stuff I had in Jueno and bidding everyone farewell.

Now for my question, is it worth coming back? When I came back a few years ago, I didn't get the same feeling. I do not play games on the PC, and still have the disks for the Xbox360 lying around. Video gaming in general has become stale for me, and I'm still searching for the greatness that was ffxi back in the day for me. If anyone has any responses, good or bad, by all means please respond (even if it is only to tell me this is the wrong board to be posting).

Thanks much for your time

90% of your gameplay experience will depend on who you know. Better hope your friends still play.

I canceled both my accounts a couple of months ago, after 8.5 years. I really miss the greatness that was FFXI back in the day, but I've had no temptation to re-activate and log in these days.

I monitor these boards to keep up with any changes that might make me want to reconsider.

overall I'd say yeah it's definitely worth logging in for a month - especially during the Abyssea promo. If you log in during the Abyssea promo, and do the access quest you get free access to Abyssea forever and a bunch of Key items that will make the game a lot easier to get into if you ever seriously want to come back.

Also, I have to say, if you liked playing mages at all, it is worth it for the experience alone of having 10 MP a tick refresh (without gear or spells) - just to experience being a mage without MP management *******

There isn't very much group related content on FFXI I find challenging. There's some content I think could be challenging like NNI and Delve but people don't want my DD jobs without Delve weaponry which is a shame as everything else is soloable. The gap between level 100 players and 119 players are so absurb and I find a lot of people with everything capped up to 106 at the very most because of they cannot progress any further (most of the forefront weapons are bad outside of reive and don't compete with delve weapons inside reive).
