Been away, are empyrean weapons 'no good' now?Follow

Hello, please forgive me as I have been away for a while and ive completely lost touch in the game for the past 3 months and forgive me if this has been done over and over.

I remember reading about new weapons from the seekers addon and seeing how they seemed to be hugely better in regards to base damage than the empyrean weapons...

Is this still the case? are empyrean weapons going to be a thing of the past and all the many (many many) hours spent obtaining one all be for nothing?

Also as an aside, last time I checked its was very difficult to obtain heavy metal... I have a lvl 90 empyrean... any changes to this at all?

To add further insult to injury there are now auction house weapons that are also better then 99 empyreans.
