Trying to get the flow of thingsFollow

Hey, I've posted a similar topic before, but I didn't get very far the last time I picked up this game. So far, I started myself on Quetzalcoatl, I'm a black mage, and I'm trying to start out fresh.

I've never gotten very far before in this game, and the last I played heavily I ended at the dunes (I just couldn't find people to party with.) What is the flow of the games these days? Do you start by just using these manuals to level? I've heard it's easy to power to level 70 or so in a matter of days, and I'm curious if it's following this pattern or if there is something I'm missing?

So before you get very far, find a linkshell to join. You can either ask through shouting or trying to find one through this forum. Since you just started, it's not necessary to look for on your server specifically, since it's simple to recreate your character without losing too much.

Just to make sure I stress it enough... Find a linkshell as soon as possible.

Fields of Valor and Grounds of Valor the best ways to gain xp at lower levels, with the latter being overall better. Usually, players will solo with these until lv12 or so then head to Gusgen Mines to run Grounds of Valor with a group. There are a collection of camps like this (Crawler's Nest, Sewer of San d'Oria) and usually there is a group that you can join just by asking.

Around lvl 70-75, xp parties shift their focus to Abyssea, so at this point, it is definitely helpful to have the expansions.

Pretty much grind to 15-20 or so, join alliance in Gusgen, then leave to Crawler's Nest when you cap out there, then off to Bostineau Oubliette till 75 at least, then either stay till 99 or flip to Abyssea.

Yup, do FoV when you must, GoV when you can. FoV rewards the same every completion, GoV eventually reaches double the starting EXP. So, obviously, GoV > FoV

If you don't know those terms, just search Fields of Valor and Grounds of Valor on the wiki.

Now, let me tell you this much, I did burn RUN up in three days from 30 to 99. This was putting in a LOT of hours in those three days, near constant play. But yes, you can pretty much make 70 in a couple weeks of regular play.
