#1 Mar 05 2013 at 11:09 PM Rating: Default
I just bought and downloaded the final fantasy xi abyssea edition off SE store(NOT the steam version) And im having major lag/wait times issues for stuff to load. and even to hit the cancel button takes forever! I couldnt even post on SE tech support because i cant get to character creation.. Anyway, ive tried downloading the vista/7 playonline thing on SE website. and still having the same issue. turned off the firewall and antivirus same issue.. before the download and updates starts it works perfect, then after the download it goes all to hell and lags. ive also noticed that if i wait like 30 mins it finally loads, but the advertisements are really old ones. form like 2007.

Anyway, my specs:

Win 7 64-bit
8gigs of ram
radeon hd 6800 series
4x AMD antleon II 650 processors

Let me know if posting the dxdiag will help ill post it

Sounds like network stuff. Onboard or dedicated network? Chipset drivers up to date if onboard? Used to be horrible with the VIA chipsets because there was never a working network driver.

Yes, the advertisements in POL are old as balls. That's normal. Taking 30 minutes to load isn't though.

Also, run something like HD Tune to check out your harddrive. If it's wicked full you could have those sorts of issues, but it could be going bad too.

The old advertisements are normal, so that's not it. System specs are plenty adequate.

What other background programs are you running? For whatever reason, PlayOnline tends to argue with Virtual Box.

Are you on a satellite connection, or tethered 3G wireless?

Im using comcast(cable), and as far as i can tell, its up to date.and i dont even know what virtual box is.

Also, would the abyssea collection come with the lastest POL? or would i need to download it again off their website for win7?

Indeed, I would definitely uninstall that pile of manure and get a "Real" media player. Smiley: cool

Find a linkshell and go and explore, level up by using the books outside the zone entrances.

You probably won't be doing that much questing.
