I have a few questions about fell cleaving that i would like to know.

1.Is it good money?
2. Whats the minimum gear req that aren't hard to get.
3. What atmas are the best to use.

I'm mainly focused towards getting the first ? answered as i could use some money really quickly, any other advice on fc'ing would be appreciated., thanks

Most shouts I see go for a rate of roughly 100k/hour. Assuming you can grab 10 or so people, you'll be able to make 1mil gil/hour.

Of course, I never really thought setting everything up was worth the effort as compared to say, farming dynamis. It's not something you cannot do alone- you probably want three others to help you out. You need someone to use Fell Cleave, at least one puller, a healer, and someone to advertise. My group will cleave for our own purposes, but we usually run one person cleaving and 2 pullers. Using a WAR is the best option due to retaliation, but any job with the right stuff can be used.

As far as gear/atmas, I don't think there's anything that makes or break FC, just use common sense. I guess gear with retaliation bonuses for a WAR will speed things up, so there is that, but it's not required.

Ok and are people picky on what gear the war is using? If i used full +1 af3 would people be mad or is that fine?

If I joined a FC party to leech, so long as I don't die, you're not naked, and the xp doesn't stop- then I wouldn't care. Since FC parties are done in Abyssea, atma is going to pretty much trump any gear you have- so yes, full af3+1 would be fine to the extent that it wouldn't not work (not a typo).

More than anything, your uncertainly hurts you the most. I understand the need to ask questions, but it sounds like you've never even cleaved mobs within your own group. First and foremost, you should be running out to Abyssea and doing a test run because aside from death, watching people ***** around trying to figure out what to do would lead me to demand my money back and leave.

As a side note, if you're trying to run a FC party, but are unable to obtain +2 items, then I would question your ability to successfully cleave. Typically the support needed to run a cleave group that I mentioned earlier should be more than capable to take down many of the NMs that drop +2 items. Those roles of healer/puller are (almost) never random people you bring in through shouting and if they are, you'll almost certainly need to pay them.

ok thanks for the advice and yeah i am new to it i just wanted to know if it was a good, steady way to make cash, thanks.

I think FC is more of a way for a small linkshell or group to make a lot of cash really fast, not necessarily steadily. For someone on their own, there are much easier ways to have an income in FFXI. You won't make as much money, but you won't have to spend 5-6 straight hours killing the same mobs over and over again either. (Spamming Uptala for pouches isn't steady, for example, but all it takes is one jackpot and you've got a million gil on your hands.)

If you want to run a good cleave, you'll have to be willing to do it for 5-10 hours straight. Depending on how fast you are killing and how diligent you are with opening chests, it'll take awhile for XP per kill to ramp up. I would definitely not be happy if after 4 hours we were still only getting 200-300 xp per kill, for example.

Also you have to keep in mind that cleaves were more popular before blinkers were nerfed, as you could nearly make back the money you paid to leech that way.

Still, there are people out there who need to get their SJs up or want to laze their way to 99. On Valefor just about nobody shouts for that kind of thing anymore.

Oh one other thing. Since it sounds like you are very new, you'd best get a 2nd account that can phalanx you. If you don't have that, your pulls will have to be tiny, and it will be a waste of everybody's time.
