Greetings,

The development team is currently working on the ancient currency NPC trading process detailed below:

- The total amount of each ancient currency will first be counted before the trade is executed.
- Trading for items will only be completed with the exact amount of currency.
- Trades will not be executed when trading multiple types of currency (ex: bronze piece and silver piece).

The above adjustments are being tested right now and as long as there are no issues, we will be implementing them in the version update where we add the new Meeble Burrows expeditions.

As a final note about the changes detailed above, we are adjusting aspects that are possible at this point in time, but we will continue to look into other concerns and address it as necessary.

For anyone confused about what this is referring to (like I was for a moment), this is an attempted fix for those people who did things like accidentally trade 99 Montiont silverpieces instead of 100 when trying to get their Ranperre goldpiece, and instead were "rewarded" with a mammoth tusk and 28 of their M.silvers taken away.

Personally, I don't know why they don't just make it similar to how Sagheera works with Limbus coins (that is, she'll hold onto a stock of them if you wish, and if you want to purchase an item with the coins you have to actually select the item from a list and confirm it)

I imagine mostly to avoid people **** that they cannot retrieve their currency anymore after storing it, never to be sold or given as loans again.

Ohh maaaan, this sort of thing actually happens? heeeeheeehehehehe. There's something utterly delightful for all the wrong reasons about people being that careless with so much wealth.

I can only imagine the customer support being less stressed after this is implemented.

While they're at it, I wish they'd also allow Ancient Currency (especially Dynamis, but also Limbus) to be sold on the Auction House. Its really annoying to have to bazaar it, because its not realistic for me to leave my computer on and logged in 24-7. Back when endgame stuff was super rare and elite, I could see it making sense but now its just annoying to have to afk a mule while I sleep/work.

My god, there'd probably be more people selling it than people selling crystals. It'd be a realm of undercutters.

Because people already don't undercut everything? Compare it to Voiddust or Geodes...someone will list 10 for 10g, but if you list for market price (or market price - 1) they will still sell quickly even if there's 100 in stock.

Aaaaand pushing down the prices on currency by having a more developed market is... bad?

They should add a retainer system like ffxiv has for bazaaring. Could make a dedicated zone for it too and even a search function like they did with xiv. Now would be the perfect time to do it too with a new city hub being introduced in the new expansion.

The last change they made with the retainer system was that it was like an auction house where you saw the prices of every item available. Also it was **** getting the retainer into Ul'dah marketplace. I guess they don't want you to know the going rate for currency whether it's because of it would make it easier to sell it or they just don't like you.

They only made it more like an AH cause there wasn't an actual AH but what I'm talking about is just a retainer system that would work just like the bazaars do now without the need to keep yourself logged in the game 24/7. They don't have to list all the prices but a search function wouldn't hurt so you can find what you're looking for without having to check every single bazaar.

If you add a search feature it basically becomes a second AH and the feature that makes bazaaring unique is lost. Bazaar shopping requires the buyer to be somewhat familiar with market trends and current prices. A listing of all items and their prices, coupled with a sales history from the normal AH completely removes that element. If all prices can be looked up instantly in a search feature, one of two things can happen: cheap stuff is immediately bought and resold (often by RMT) for "market value", or prices crash to the cheapest possible value that people are willing to sell for.

There are obviously varying opinions on whether this is good or bad (the price lowering part), and my comment isn't meant to be a subjective one. I'm just saying that adding that search feature eliminates the key feature of what a bazaar actually is, which is basically a street vendor.

The retainer system was **** fail. Any time they did server maintenance, the wards were reset, and good luck getting your retainer back in if you didn't log back in five minutes after the server was back up. They're supposedly making huge adjustments to the retainer system in 2.0 because the one in 1.0 was so broken it hurt.

The retainer system was meant to copy Rolanmart. SE failed to realize that Rolanmart's sole purpose of existence was a workaround due to the fact that not all items were AH bazaarable. Putting a retainer system in XI to copy XIV would be stupid in the extreme, as if it was reverse engineering a problem to the solution, not the other way around.

No, they just shouldn't have stuff that can't be sold on the AH, period. There are things that are illegal to import into Jeuno that are sold on the AH (Northern Furs, for example), so why can't ancient currency or NM pops be sold there too?
