Just wanted to share this. I played FFXI when it was first released in NA and then gave up a few years back. Decided to play the free trial and see how things have changed. Here is the opening line they sent me in the E-Mail.

We're exciting to see you sign up for a 14 Day Free Trial of FINAL FANTASY XI!

The link inside to download the trial was outdated and I had to find the download manually. I wonder if my registration code will work at all...

I had the same problem. The registration code, however, worked.

I couldn't get the E-Mail for the trial to appear in my inbox for over a week. I had to get somebody else to submit my info for me. But I'm installing POL right now so I guess things are back on track. Is the old Ramuh server still up or did that disappear in a merge a while back?

Pretty sure that's been gone for a while, unfortunately.

Yeah, I was hoping I wasn't the only one who was concerned about some kind of official letter from SE using grammar like that. x.x

With grammar that bad, it's got to be a trap!

It's honestly something I'd expect of an RMT phishing attempt. Granted, I don't know how SE's distributing the trials these days, but I'd be wary of anything not coming from POL (for US users) or Square Enix account site.

I was safe about it. I got the E-Mail shortly after clicking the sign up button and it was from square-enix(No typos or other sneakyness) I was just put off by the grammar AND broken link, I guess they just don't care much about it since they're backing their new prize pony(FFXIV) Sadly, I didn't end up playing. Apparently I had to make an account for my account and then I decided I didn't want to play that badly.
