I need a guide explaining how to buy Crysta/pay for FFXIFollow

Hello everyone!

I used to play on the Siren server up until SE changed their payment methods back when Crysta was implemented, ever since then I have never attempted to play FFXI, but recently I been itching to go back to Siren, visit my old friends, maybe stay. The thing is, I can access my SE account fine, but when it is time to look for options for paying for FFXI and reactivating, I really have no idea how to do it.

Things to consider:

1. I live in Puerto Rico.
2. My FFXI version is the USA version of the game.
3. My credit card is billed to my address in Puerto Rico.
4. I am stumped on how to buy Crysta.
5. I'd rather not use Click And Buy, apparently they charge international fees.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and it's nice to be back on Alla!

Log in. Find the 'Add Crysta' tab on the left, under payments and service fees.

Select a custom amount of crysta and add 15~1600 (that's 15-16$ worth) depending upon how many characters you want to activate. IIRC, it's 1295 crysta for one character and 100 crysta for each additional. (12.95$ + 1$, same as always.)

Use UltimatePay because it's not ClickAndBuy.

Then under Service and Options go to Select Service, FFXI, check the boxes of the characters you want to reactivate, hit accept, and you're good to go. Wait 2-3 minutes and log in.

It's quite simple, unless you're not allowed to buy Crysta in your region.. I don't know the workaround for that, unfortunately.

Ok, cool, thanks for the help there, but I am right now activating a new Pay Pal account, to be able to buy Ultimate Points, to be able to buy Crysta. Am I following the correct steps?

Ok, I purchased the Ultimate Points from PlaySpan. Let's see how this goes, now I need to activate the option to use Crysta on my SE account.

Waiting for SE to transfer all my characters and accounts to the SE Account.

So, I wanted to ask, do I need anything else to get setup? I mean, does POL still require me to input any info or is it just log in and get to the FFXI title screen?

In POL you'll need to input your POL ID , Square-enix ID and Passwords. Pretty much everything else is done on the square -enix account page that you've already done. ETA... There's also an option to just pay using a credit card in the payment options aswell.

I think FFXI and XIV might be the only MMORPGs that make players jump through this many hoops just to give them money. No one should need it explained to them, there should be no need for work-arounds, and yet that's the way it is. It's 2012, and most of the internet has this "pay for stuff" thing settled and really easy.
It's like SE doesn't want people to play.

eh, buying crysta isn't any harder than buying station cash, steam cash, or Playstation store cash - unless, like the OP (well I am assuming here...) you live a country where you can't just buy a card off a shelf. All of them make you log into your account and choose how much to buy.

The only extra step there of setting up the paypal account would apply to any of the other types of online cash if you didn't just buy say a playstation network card or an ultimate game card. If you were using a prepaid visa for steam there is even more steps... so while I can get on board with SE being arcane most of the time, I would disagree that at this point they are arcane about crysta. It's industry standard as far as the format/steps. I know, because I don't have a credit card and, as such, am well versed in buying stuff with net currencies/online services.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!
