#1 Jan 21 2012 at 3:49 AM Rating: Decent
This is my first mmo game ever! Like ever! except Second life but that's not really a mmo. Any who I have absolutely no clue of what to do here or where to go. I started playing final fantasy 14 but someone recommended I play final fantasy 11 because it is more slow paced. I am completely new to the game world and I was wondering if there was anyone kind and patient enough to show me what to do on final fantasy 11? I'm usually on during the afternoon and night eastern time and my user name is Nataliah or email me at rrrosa17@gmail.com

1) Run around town talking to people.

2)Run around outside town killing stuff.

3) /search for "Mentors" on your server.

4) Post ???'s in server forum for better results on finding folks that are noob tolerant.

5) Spend hours on Wiki/Gamerescape poring over stuff you need to know ^^

What server ya on ?

Mentor Tag = Moron Tag 99% of the time. I wish they would remove that thing. of make people take a real test of some sort. Seriously it's a Moron Tag or worse a scammer who will take advantage of new players. Talk to them at your own risk.

Yea, I wouldnt have suggested this in years past, as your description was accurate then 90% of the time.....
But these days the Mentards I see are sometime the only people willing to actually help a newb out with some of the early stuff, also not much to "take advantage" of with a newb either these days.

Obviously getting into a tolerant LS is important, but as far as doing stuff that takes time/running around, a lot of times at least asking a Mentor is a good option.

We have a couple in our LS & they are always off helping people Do LB AF RSE & Nation stuff...

Your mileage may vary.

Find a linkshell. Ask for one in game, find one through this forum. And yes, starting a new character is definitely a small price to pay for joining a linkshell on a different server, they are just that important.

The aim of any MMO is really the same as an RPG- level up, obtain gear, beat the bad guys, obtain more gear. Since this is not the standard RPG, this cycle will repeat forever. The advantage of being an MMO is that you do this with people and eventually friends.

As far as what to do when starting out, it's a lot easier to ask people through chat since you'll see faster responses. A good way to start though is to try to leave the city and start fighting monsters.

Depending on which city you started in, look for one of the following NPCs,

Alaune --- Southern San d'Oria (G-10)
Gulldago --- Bastok Markets (D-11)
Selele --- Windurst Woods (K-10)

They will give you some quests to do to give you a basic understanding of getting started.
