Return to FFXI. Join the Reformation.Follow

#102 Aug 16 2011 at 8:19 PM Rating: Excellent
Here is an update on the Linksell:

We had an issue. The linkshell got large and in a way created a problem. The problem (in a way) was people wanted to join, but the was not enough Sack Holders. So Az (the owner of Reformation) created more, and more were needed, so more were created. A few post above I listed 19 sack holders. Not sure if that is the complete list.
But the issue was someone (a sack holder) was coming in and kicking people at random and then leaving the linkshell. They seemed to do this when only there was 1/few other sackholders on.
IE: A few of us looked like we were just kicking people for no reason other then to kick. This was not the case (at least with me when I was on and this was going on). All we could do was rehand out pearls.

Azmyth is/has been having PC issues so has not been on much (RL > FFXI) so reducing sack holders could not be done. Another member (Shiner) took it apon himself and created another, new LS, to control the # of sackholder (and to know for sure who is a sackholder).

Az said he would leave the site up for the rest of the week..guess he changed his mind. I don't own the site..so I have no say in that.

So we are still around, just under new management. Shiner is the owner, and I think Bizniztyme is one of the sack holders.
I will log on here after this post and see who else is.

Here are the ones online right now:
Bizniztyme
Diogenes
Galaktus
Lonan
Pilate
Shiner

Shiner could be logged in all day, but is not on. So anyone who would like to join our huge family search the above names during the evenings (not sure if any are on during the day).

More info:
We have evolved. We will do missions, we do help out, but old school parting (if that is what you are after) does not get done as much.

When you create a new character you can pick your server now. If you already have a character you can use the world transfer service from SE. It costs 25 dollars.

Hi folks been on a few times. However I started in windurst and would need a pearl sent to me or brought to me. Hopefully I should be on much more over the next few days.

Hey I've tried looking for someone to get a pearl from but no one seems to be around. If you can mail me one or try contacting me that would be awesome. Characters name is Cusch. I'll keep searching for you guys. Thanks
#107 Aug 24 2011 at 8:57 PM Rating: Good
Don't think pearls can be mailed. I just logged about 40min ago and there were at least 3 sack holders on. Try searching the list above.

Really sad to see the LS was trolled in to reforming (ironic...) by some random who felt like kicking everybody. FFXI's LS interface sure isn't the best, I know that wasn't easy to handle. -_-

I have been debating playing FFXI again the last couple of days. Almost all of my old pals do not play anymore, so if I did play I would look for a LS like this to join up and level a character in. Did you all manage to successfully transfer LS's, and is everything going strong now? I hope so.

Also, is Phoenix a well off server? I haven't played since pre-server merges, but I know it was quite lame to play back then when it really seemed like the game was on its last leg. Is population better/thriving now since the merges?

I would level BLM as main if I started again. I hear BLM is useful in the current endgame in FFXI, but not sure how difficult it would be to level as a fresh primary job. Hopefully possible.

Let me know if you guys are still going strong and would like more. ;)

yea we all are pretty much in the new LS.
As for the server, it is alright. I played a few month before the merged, there are now more people (obviously) and the ups and downs of that are there. I've seen no Server vs. Server hate, but that may because all the big LSes that were on Titan pretty much just recreated on Phoenix and went about their ways.

If you are with a bunch of crazy people (jk, they all cool) to play with, I'm sure we will take ya. All you have to do is create, and search for one of the names up at the start of page 3.

Hi! I'm interested in joining. I haven't played in over a year and I'm really lost on all this Abyssea business. Most of my old "friends" do not seem to have the time to help me out. And my brother has moved to another server.

The only endgame I was able to get into was Dynamis. Because I quit twice before and played on and off. I was attempting to finish up Zilart, COP, ToAU, and WOTG last time I played but did not get to do it because then everyone was heavily playing the first three add-ons. It was one of the main reasons why I quit the the last time.

My IGN is Haste. SAM is my only 75, with RDM in it's 50's. Need to level up my subs! I usually play after 5pm EST. I speak a different language or three :). Would love some company in the game! Looking forward to playing again.

Just wanted to say that I finally sucked it up and reactivated my FFXI account, and made a character on Phoenix last night to play with these guys. Within a couple of hours I had a pearl, and I was overjoyed to see 20+ people online, with talk of the LS always being full of people.

In case people are curious, I did a quick /sea all sometime yesterday evening (I forget exactly what time.) and there was ~1800 people online, so the server merges seem to do well in keeping the servers a float. I don't think 1800 people is bad! It's not like there was a ton of people running around Windurst, where I started, but there was definitely people. It was cool to see for sure.

If anybody else is debating giving FFXI another go, and would like a low level partner to hit up the game with, let me know. This LS seems very friendly, but having another low level player with all the same short term interests/goals as you could make the game a lot more fun, and easy for sure. I'm Fahros in game, just like here.

Either way though, here's to the good times to be had.

Cheers

Well, I'm much in the same boat of the re-starters. Haven't played for a couple years, but FFXI has always held a place in the back of my mind. Your LS looks like it could be a solid fit for a return re-roll. I do have access to my old account but picking up where i left off may just leave me lost trying to pick up pieces. Rather start anew and utilize/adapt to the gameplay changes.

Ill be in touch when my new copy arrives in the mail. Handle should be Braezel less this randomly thought up name for posting sticks. Super excited to be joining the ranks!

Hi there,

I've been thinking a few times about returning to the game. I've been looking through the forums here and spotted this thread. The LS sounds like a great idea.

Refer to this thread, or hopefully you read the entire thread(s) about Reformation.

I'm currently downloading (big) updates now and will hopefully be online later tonight. I'm based in the UK.

My former character was a White Mage/Black Mage combo. I'll think I might roll those again but on a new server.

Edit: Just a quick update. My game is all updated and I've started playing a White Mage - Discotrash on the server. Who do I need to contact about possibly joining the LS please?

Thanks

Downloading FFXI at this moment, this LS sounds perfect for me. I played a few years ago and will be making a new character as i cant be bothered with the hassle of getting a 360 account re activated, if the LS is still open to new members i would love to join.

Do a search for one of these names:

Bizniztyme
Diogenes
Galaktus
Lonan
Pilate
Shiner

They are Sack holders. Just inform them that you saw a post at this site (zam). Shiner however may be logged in, but not actually playing so if you do not get a reply from him that is why. You being UK and me not knowing how far ahead in time you are...I'd search off and on all day (if able) because there does seem to be someone logged in all the time (pretty sure we still have a few UK/Outside of NA players).
Do note that a sack holder may be in an Abyssea party and may not be able to get you a pearl right away.

Hi,

Thanks for the information. I will do a search for those names while I'm online later today. I'm now currently level 13.

Join the Reformation? Sorry, can't take a place in this Protestant revolt against the Church because, you see, as an Albigensian, I was killed centuries earlier by the Church. But I'm not certain this Reformation has gotten off on the right foot. Has anyone nailed a list of grievances to the door or webpage of Square-Enix? Just avoid any defenestrations. They tend to result in nasty (really nasty) wars.

Hey, just thought I'd point out that if your LS is about experiencing FFXI as it was in the before time, shouldn't that include refusing to utilize any of the new features, including Fields of Valor? ;P j/k I know they are too convenient to resist. But really, FoV does kinda kill the feel of the old ways. ESPECIALLY the higher level ones, like in the beginning of Crawler's Nest.

I'm generally against being a level-*****. I like to adventure around and experience the game at the slower, more methodical pace that it used to have. Astral burn parties are one exception, 'cause those are just so cool and ingenious :P

I really don't care for ANY other MMO, largely because they are all WOW clones in some way shape or form. FFXI really stands out to this day in my mind and despite how dev has tried to ruin the game in recent years, I'll always have nostalgic feelings for it.

Two reasons I left about a year ago was due to all the new junk that I found depressing -- abyssea and everything associated with it, magian trials, and just about any other of the recent hoops SE has invented to try and keep people playing. I'm not for any of that, running some pre-determined gauntlet. I am, however, interested in progressing my CoP / ToAU missions further, as well as my primary rank missions and this LS sounds like a great way of doing that.

Necro Warning: This post occurred more than thirty days after the prior, and may be a necropost.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this linkshell is just as dead as this thread(or was now). I was in it for a few months then it just fell apart and like all people who return/start FFXI, they turned to abyssea. Including myself.

If you can't beat em', join em'! FoV has no sense of adventure and is pretty mindless, but honestly, Abyssea isn't that bad. It's good fun when you have a linkshell to experience it with. Think of it as revisiting the old FFXI zones but in an alternate reality! :) A bit of the old with some new mixed in.

Reminds me I never got a pearl, and only one tell about the LS LOL!

Oh well, if people are in need of essentials (not PLing or tele's, more like Limit Breaks and quest/mission help) I can be found lurking now and then on Bahamut :D
