Are the FFXI forums going to get their own dedicated staff?Follow

#1 Dec 16 2010 at 4:25 AM Rating: Good
Just curious really, almost all the old staff are now FFXIV staff and steer totally clear of the FFXI forum posting almost exclusively on there. Are we going to get our own dedicated staff or are the FFXI users of this site not as much of an asset as the FFXIV users?

So yeah will there be any new staff dedicated to the FFXI users now or are things going to stay as they are now? Zam FFXI forums are a shadow of what they used to be in terms of attention from the staff, would be nice to have staff that play FFXI and care about the game running it again. No editorials, no happy friday stuff, no admins attention at all, they are all over on FFXIV now

God damn it, can't change the title now, hopefully people can understand it anyway :(

Yeah but you know what I mean, the attention this games forum used to get compared to what it does now is laughable. They all moved over the FFXIV, which is fine but I think we deserve our own dedicated staff too. FFXIV is a fail of a game and Zam gives that userbase far far more staff attention than this one gets.

Several month old game vs 8 year old game.

So take on a few more staff that still play the old game? I don't see other forums relegating the FFXI portion of their userbase to the scrap heap as Zam is.

Maybe if the game wasn't so olde they'd hire more admins for it.

As opposed to a brand new game with a bleak future and a fraction of the playerbase FFXI has.

If the idea was to have staff to cover both games it isn't working, these forums are simply ignored now. I really do think these forums require at least a few of it's own dedicated staff.

I think the idea is to ignore ffxi, since no one cares. Vlor does the news postings. Not really sure what more you need from them.

You want an additional admin for this forum, send in your resume. The worst that can happen is they respond "we're not actively looking to add another admin for FFXI, but we'll keep your resume on file" (well, unless your resume is pretty bad).

Or if you think someone in particular should be, start talking them up to other admins.

I wouldnt agree with that, I see far more people on XIV then XI and that dont include all the people who left or the people who will return @ PS3 release. I see XIV in 12 months time being far more active then XI is today. I see the citys being far more active then Jeuno/WG put together.

Mediocre at best. Where's the Summoning Magic Skill? Avatar Perpetuation Cost Reduction? Pet Magic Attack Bonus? Heck, even Refresh +1?

(Just kidding, "FFXI Forum Staff" made me giggle like hell. Rated you up.)

It does seem a little cheap. But meh, the community is pretty much self sustaining at the moment.

They probably wouldn't admit to it, but I'd suspect Square has asked them not to focus on FFXI for the time being, and try to support XIV as much as possible.

Oh and I don't know what game you're playing, but there were 4000 people on Sylph last night.

I think these forums are starting to wane pretty badly now honestly, they used to be the best general chat forums for FFXI and the paid staff chipping in with stuff like the editorials and other such content helped with that, the best place for that seems to be moving more towards FFXIAH now though(BG is good but too caustic for most people). The fact the people that own the site don't even think it deserves the attention it used to get is just another reason to see it fall flat, along with every other thing the site offers towards FFXI that is subpar.

Only good thing this site offers to FFXI players was the forums and they are being left to stagnate. When the staff paid to cover the forum don't even bother with it you know it's probably time to bail to somewhere else.

Ffxiah forums are like KI all over again, complete garbage 98% of the time. While chatter in 11 has dropped its mostly only due to how the community is split. There are to many casual players on alla to actually delv deep into content like at BG. BG has a lot more advanced community (hardcore shouldnt be used really with the state if the game as it is now since everything is pretty easy).

Most alla discussions revolve around general chatter and outside the job forums there isnt
much here. On BG theres a lot of facts and discussion about certain aspects of the game thatget dove into very deeply.

To many people in this day in age of the game and that especially post on this forum have the its my 12 dollar attitude and dont tell me that my hagun sucks at level 90 crap. A long time ago people use to make good topics for discussion on here but now not so much, but its to be expected when we know how 99% of the game works.

And people get to butt hurt around here in general, seems whenever rog posts everyone acts as though the antichrist has risen and will smite them for being told their sam isnt top dd any more.

If it's what you're even talking about these forums have always been under-moderated (plus most of the forums on this site). People pretty much run rampant and behave any which way they like. "The ratings system works as intended" Blah blah. The only locked thread I've seen on here in months was one about windower.

Use the report button. ALL admins will get a notification (the same as pms or followed threads), and any admin can deal with minor problems. Many of the newer admins won't mute someone unless it's very clear it's deserved, but they'll still refer the thread to kao, so either way, the post will get looked at by an appropriate admin, usually right away. Zam has a dozen or two admins, only one of which works on ffxi, so although they are more than capable of dealing with any bad post(ers), they need to know they there. If it's a single post/thread that is a problem, use report. If a person in particular is a problem, then PMing kaolian is likely your best best, as he is pretty much the one who handles the bans.

Meh, Kaolin failing to moderate his own baby (=25) back in the day was the reason I stopped posting there. I mean it's obvious the idiots there were part of his clique, but there still should be some lines in the sand to prevent total *********** and you know, maybe make it not look totally like a circle jerk. Dunno why I'm telling you this though, you already knew it.

You're sounding a lot like an Alla admin there too. ************ working as intended". Most of the bad blood on these forums comes from threads that should have been locked or otherwise had some law applied to them before they get out of hand. The ridiculous thread about SAM weapons is a great example of something that should have been closed almost as it was started. Saying "use the report button" is all well and good but honestly it's a massive cop out for a popular forum to be leaving so much in the hands of users.

I dunno, they technically gave me volunteer minions, so maybe? You'd have to ask darqflame type people how that whole thing works. At the moment the volunteer peoples don't get any of the fun toys though.
Go ask about that in =3 then if you think it's such a big problem.

edit: in fact, i'll do it myself.

Dont hold your bags on the PS3 release, we all know its on hold now. Everyone said the game would be at its best at PS3 launch. SE proved that wrong with no release date for the game. But ya, the allah (Rog's) forums are dead.

When I started on here I could hit F-5 and have 10 new topics slam on screen, or the one I was reading drop right off the page due to other topic traffic.
