Why lock a thread that brings out Truth, Why in fear that it may tarnish some peoples so called Reputation...There is some logic about Truth in this game I do believe or I thought...So Why not let people vent there feelings about this issue...Sure someones opinion may not be liked but ya know what thats life...Everyone has there own views and the right to voice them wether anyone likes what they say or not...This is a Forum or last time I checked...:(

I know for a fact that 1 of the names on the Unknown section are on PS2. Has never run the game on PC and doesn't even have a PC capable of running FFXI.

Thanks. This is what keeps me posting here instead of going to my server's official website, where all drama is locked (unless you are a mod and then you can pretty much insult, insinuate and name names at will, and then lock posts before anyone has a chance to respond to you.) I do have to say that the mods here are some of the best I've seen. On any forum. Of any kind.

I am rather enjoying the way people are trying to defend the people on the list. I just don't get *why* they are doing it.
It's a list of people that were stored in a bot merchant's database. Said merchant wouldn't have their names if their program wasn't designed to be bound to a character to reduce warez usage (illegal program taking steps against having their program stolen, that's rich).
Even felons caught in the act need defense attorneys, I guess.

I suppose it's a matter of perspective (not that some obviously true platitude really says much). Perhaps it's not so much a defense as it is a willingness to forgive: shocking concept, I know. Although I quite realize that ffxi is more than "just a game," I couldn't bring myself to wish for someone to burn just because of cheating, be it in a game or in life. The bloodthirsty nature of most retributive justice systems just seems so pointless.
Regardless, I can't help but think an attempt at objective rationality is a good thing though, whether the person is guilty or not.

I think what bothers me most about all this is that some of my Best friends are on that list...People that you bond with on this game and would do anything for if humanely possable...And to know now that they were cheating kinda dampers your views about trust...Plus Its kinda sad knowing that some people quit this game, cause they couldnt compete...And ya know what they proabbly wouldve been some the Best Damn Players on the servers...There is alot of Honest and very trustworthy peeps on this game, that do exist..So yes people are upset about this and saddened at the same time...And as one person said " Trust is earned" and now more than ever it will be harder for some more than others to heal these wounds of friendships...

Yes, some people have 'fessed up. I don't really care. Until the actually validity of this list can be 100% ascertained, then every single entry should be deemed suspect. (And that "unknown" portion is just jacked up. It calls for an open season on anyone who may share a name, regardless of the fact that 1. ffxiah isn't a complete list of everyone on the server and 2. the assumption that the program is linked with the main character, instead of a mule or whatnot.)
Botters and cheaters have annoyed us all at one point or another, so it'd be natural to welcome a comeuppance for them. But this?
