Now I understand why people don't help with CoP missionsFollow

Late post but, did I hear correctly...?

She meleed the Memory Receptacle!?

I could honestly look past the WHM/THF job combo. Barely. But thats beyond a rookie error, thats idiocy at its finest. The irony is that this player moans at others for playing in an ineffective manner yet breaks EVERY single rule at the same time.

For Clefairy, though you probably don't want to hear it im going to give you a little advice for playing WHM on CoP missions.

1) Don't melee. Killing strays with a club is fine as they have low HP, but even those should be left to other players where possible. Only fight the ones which are causing you grief, and try to get a ranger to assist you as they can often 1-shot them.

2) HEAL! If you're meleeing you're not resting for MP. Its vital that a white mage is able to maintain their mana during fights, even with weak MR's. No one should be dying at MR's unless you've somehow pulled aggro from non-stray mobs in the area. Your cures are more than sufficient to heal any damage from Empty Seed, but ONLY if you have the MP to use them.

3) Stay the f--k out of AoE range! MR's aren't the only enemies in Promyvion which use AoE abilities. Even your bog-standard Promyvion lackey has an AoE of some sort, and you're jeopardising the teams efforts by getting too close. You're not a warrior, you're no tank. You're a very squishy WHM. Learn to live with the back line, its where we best do our delicate work.

4) Level BLM or SMN. Sorry, but you didn't think I'd go this thread without a brief mention to your poor support job choice. THF offers NOTHING to a white mage. For every argument you can find to support it, I can find twenty against it. Mage supports aren't used because the world wants to be cookie-cutter, they're used because they're effective. If you are not subbing a mage, you are playing in an ineffective manner which in turn affects the group.

If you feel I've made an error in judgement, feel free to argue my points. But don't critisise others for their mistakes until you have analysed your own.

MRs are so **** weak I don't really care who melees them, I would just hope the WHM has enough brains to at least enter the fray with a full Stoneskin and not to somehow let someone die if they're getting beaten up.

/THF is still retarded though, yup. I'm not even entirely sure the MRs are vulnerable to SA. I know they might be like elementals and are just really hard to determine which way they are facing, but I've performed SAs from behind (based on where the person that should have "hate" is) and they still did not seem to be effective.

1) /THF is by far one of the worst choices for melee WHM sub. /WAR is fine, /NIN is fine, /SAM is fine too.
Smiley: banghead

No suggestion of /DRK (which lets you keep doing your normal WHM-y role if necessary for longer than the other three, in addition to the whole usage of Souleater as "convert Stoneskin into melee damage")?

Also, I don't particularly like melee WHM with a staff, but that's just my personal opinion. Smiley: grin

It's more viable now with the patch, but I'm sure you knew that.

Yeah, I just don't like it only because staves, for the most part, suck.

I'd rather put up Haste and melee with a wand.

Please don't get me started in again on the whole "I want great hammers for WHM/PLD" thing.

I dunno, Kinkobo isn't BAD, not great, but clubs aren't either.

I was still thinking about Promy, to be honest >_>

I've kicked some *** with an Elm Pole pre-patch. XD Usually stopped meleeing by the 3rd floor though.

I just want Hexa Strike on PLD. I'll even take it if I would have to sub WHM for it.

Yeah let's take everything unique from whm and let other jobs use it.

I know it sounds like I'm just being bitter but really, I mean come on, each job has to have good stuff that other jobs don't have, otherwise what is the point of that job?
#286REDACTED, Posted: Oct 06 2007 at 7:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Meh, PLD has no job unique weaponskills anyway. We have the highest Club rating, but lack access to the best Club WS.

I'm all up for WHM getting more unique stuff/getting upgrades to stuff they already have, but you have to admit it's kind of odd that PLD has A- club skill (the same rating as WAR has in axe, or NIN has in katana) but no access to hammers and only one WS even remotely worth using (Black Halo, which is quested and can't be obtained until lvl 71). I think PLD is the only job in the entire game which has the best combat rating in a weapon but doesn't have access to the best WS... Of course, we're also the only job with A+ rating in a 1H weapon, so I guess it made sense in some game designer's head at some point(?)

I'd like to see WHM get new shinies, like reduced weakness time on R2 and 3, some new gear, and maybe some new spells - and PLD get Shell IV (because really, why do we not have this?) and Hexa Strike. We might actually have a use for that A- skill then lol.

Mkk I applaud you for your maturity in the face of Anna's ignorance and the lack of his/her will to become a better player. :)

I know how mage subs benefits whm more overall but to all absolute close minded naysayers saing /thf does NOTHING to whm, you're very wrong. I saw some thread bring up SA Spirit Taker and with enough acc, that easily replenish 2x as much mp as you would normally do without.

For places like nyzle, thats how my whm were able to keep up with heals since there are NO time to rest at all and my party had no refreshers to boot. Getting 300 mp back every 100 tp is nothing to sneeze at with a bonus flee. SE gave whms melee gears (Rev. Mail, kinkobo, etc) for a reason. I was swinging 80-100 damage while the sams did 120 which I think is decent too.

Upon further review, I've deleted my own post because this entire thread is a complete waste of everyone's time, and I feel guilty contributing any more to it.
