Well, I've been playing FFXI for about a year and a half now and I'm getting kind of bored with the world of Vanadiel. I know that there is plenty to do, what I mean is the world itself. So I was thinking: What would people like to see the environment of the next Final Fantasy online be? Myself, I would love to see a more technologically(sp) evolved society. I'm talking big skyscraper filled cities, airships made of steel, possibly some cars or trains, more guns. And for a new craft...engineer(move over Cid). Just some ideas :).

I'd like to see an the next FF be based more on a struggle between the races, with the Beastmen still a threat, but a bit on the side burner. Imagine a party of six lvl 20 characters traveling across a vast landscape with one objective- KILLING YOU. Imagine being a Notorious Monster yourself.
I'd like to see a more realistic approach as far as the scenery. Walking through places like Gustaberg is depressing, i swear. More cell-shading, and attention to detail. It's probably more easily said than done, but if anyone can do it, Square/Enix can right?

It would be cool to have warring cities. Maybe have it be an option that you can turn off on yourself while in xp parties with members from different cities? That way you don't get jumped when all you want is some xp lol.

I dont care as long as its not an active PVP server where players can kill you anywhere *cough Lineage2 cough* bad throat sorry..

As for your more future idea.. i take it you liked FFVIII alot is that the sort of idea you would like ? personally the idea of FF8 online is a good one.. needs a bump in the graphics though obviously but the idea's there with the gardens and stuffs..

I did like the atmosphere of VII alot, although that's the only FF game besides X-2 that I haven't played all the way through lol.

Yeah the cannon in Junon is badass. Probably a cross between Midgar and VIII. And have airships like VII or X-2.

I'd rather have the next FF set into a FF4 like world.
I like FF games when they where more "Knights, armor and swords" rather than "Spaceships, Machine guns, and Laser cannons". Yes, I have been very lonely since FF5-6. Hopefully one day, square is going to make an excellent graphical FF game that embodies those things.

as for the world itself, no mather how much you change it, it stills become boring after a point... you can only take so much time exploring it before knowing it all. But having more starting towns is already a nice point. FF11 could've used a lot of small villages. Anyone remembers FF1 thru 6 ? lots and lots of small villages with 2-3 big capitals (and/or castles). the more towns you have , the longuer it takes for players to explore them all.

Four other things that are unexistant in FF11 world, which is sorely missed by most ppl I know :
- Lack of dungeons : (at least dungeons with fixed level mobs like 10-14 and thats it). Rewards for that level too.. I miss the chests-filled FF5 where you did a whole dungeon for a sword that gives you "the edge" for the next 5 levels. You could have a lot of dungeons in FF11 with rather fixed levels. Ooo the possibilities. (and i'm not talking bcnms or Inner/outer Outoruru Ruins , im talking real dungeons).

- The whole sea exploring aspect. where you explore and find island with exotic towns that has their own weapons, armor, cultures... (The closest of it in FF11 is Norg). To explore sea we'd need either a blue chocobo, or a small sailship that players can use.

- The freedom to explore. When everything links and aggroes, you dont want to explore. Or you go only on chocobo or with level1 job, or need to stay hidden! How boring... When you can't solo jack (save 2-4 jobs), it limits your exploration even more... you can't "flee" like the old FFs... you're screwed if something bad occurs.

- Character customisation. Main/Sub isnt bad, but is way too restrictive. What happened to Rosa(ff2) the Archer/whm that was able to do both jobs correctly ? and Rydia (ff2) Smn/BLM that kicks a$$ ? the main/sub has to be redesigned from scratch to allow more versatility... what if instead of sub-job it would really be a second-job ? meaning you equip whm as a warrion you are 50war/50whm (if you leveled both, support never exceeding main) ? then you could explore even better in solo, duo or trio without being limited in a specific role.

imho.

Francois i can see your point in each and i agree with you on nearly all of them.. the early levels are obtained in "the zone outside town" that about summons up where early levels can level, as for FF2 i dont know much so i cant argue or comment on anything there although you can be RNG/WHM ... just people dont see that as good party member and wont invite you.. theoricity (sp) you can be any combo you like.. but its the players that say you cant be invited to a party because your a mnk/whm or something, so in return i believe its the community that limits the jobs rather than the game.

As for subjob i believe its a balanced ratio of 2:1 any higher and it would make things too easy, 75rdm/75blm .. your talking refresh.. buffs .. and IV nukes.. as well as the ability to weild and use a sword.

Thats just an example is a good point just theres my counter statement to it

-edit- Spelt your name wrong, apologies.
