Very few will agree with me on this and I will probably be ******* at for this post, But I'm gunna give my opinions of SE. Yes this is getting a little repetitive with the downtime and such, But it doesn't mean they don't care about their customers. Now I have been playing games made by this company since they were called "Square" and then "Squaresoft" (and even the god aweful "Square Electronic Arts"). I've played every game they have released save three or four. I will tell you right now, Square - Enix is anything but a second rate company. Now think back to your adventures in Vana'diel. Remember the first time you stood before the Shadow Lord? Sitting around in Jeuno talking to people while waiting for the day to pass to be able to ride the ever famous Chocobo. Being freaked out as high level friends escorted you through Delkfutt's Tower. Aquiring you final peice of AF and seeing your title change to "Paragon of <job> Excellence" This game is fun. And for people to say that SE gives us nothing is rediculas. They are constantly adding more depth to the game all the time. It keeps getting better and better. With how massive this game is and how many people play it all at once, down time is to be expected, but I think it is worth it. yes I hate having my only time to play stripped away by server problems, but hey, it's part of life, S**t happens get over it, at least we do know they are working hard to resolve the issue, even if you think otherwise, they want out business, just as much as we are addicted to the service they have given us. If you think that you are gunna quit over this, then do it and stop telling us how s***ty SE is when it's just simply not true. I have been playing SE games for nearly 2 decades, and just because I can't play this one at this point and time doesn't mean I'm gunna hate themfor it, I think everyone should think about how much fun they have had with this game and just, for once, deal with the down time.

And I'll finish with this, SE has always listen to the gamer's insight. Every game that they have released has taken a LOT of user input and it has shown. They really do care about their games just as much as we do. Please give them a break over this situation, they sure as hell need it.

PS: I wish this thing had a Spell checker -.-; sorry for any typos.

People are going to just call you an SE apologist, but you're right.
I love this game, the story, playing with friends, and everything else about it. If you aren't patient enough or have nothing else to do then just deal with it, I don't need to hear your ********* If you don't want to pay for it when you cant play it just read the user's agreement you agreed to or stop playing. This game has so much fun to offer, why cant we all just focus on that. *holds everyones hands and sings kumbaya* :)

I can't believe I actually posted in one of these threads....

I'm delighted to find someone else who realizes how difficult it is to keep a system like theirs running. Thanks for speaking the truth. (an unpopular consept around here)

Chains of Promathia granted all of my wishes from SE....

And I've loved them every since.

Sure, the server problems are a bit odd. but I'll cope. I can do 2093840932 things while not playing FFXI. Easy. Go out, enjoy the world.

I'm amazed we've not seen problems like this before.

And yeah, some people just seem obsessed with getting online. It's worrying how seriously some people take this game sometimes. Sure, I get a bit stressed if I die and lose 2000 exp, or start getting abuse from newbies (I'm hesitant to use the alternative term) who think they know better than someone who's been playing the game for a year... but if you're not having fun, and you're being 100% serious about what you do, you shouldn't be playing.

I've been hassled by people before because (after joining a party to help them out for an hour, as I was the only WHM available at that time) I left. Apparently I shouldn't have led them on and I've ruined their oh-so valuable exp by causing them downtime as they had to wait for the new player to arrive.

I've noticed recently that no one ever chats in parties either. Every time I try to strike up a conversation, it either gets ignored or I get asked to "leave the chat log clear so I can see what's going on".

The most fun I ever had in this game was doing the Promy-Holla boss with a few friends. The reason? I realised that it looks oddly like Nicole Richie (it DOES, look at the eyes), and I proceeded to spam it with abuse.

Then we kicked its ***. Serves it right for making another series of the Simple Life really.

Ah, good times.

I couldn't agree with the OP more. SE is a very proffessionally run company and I think they're handling the DDoS and other server problems adequately. People have to learn to take situations like this less seriously. As for me, whenever there is scheduled maintenance or server problems, I take it as an opportunity to stick my head OUT of the game for a while and focus on other things.

Again, well put Kojirochan. Rate up.
