Mysterytour gives a very good overview of the various prizes that are available for beating certain times.

Click on the "Quest" sidebar, then click on any town zone which contains a chocobo stable (eg. Windurst Woods or Bastok Mines). The Chocobo Riding Game quest should be the first listed in each section.

Additionally, mithrapride has an excellent timer which tells you when the various races begin and from/to which cities.

Happy riding!

Basically you go to a stables (Bastok, Sandy or Windy) and depending on the time you're given a destination. If you make it to that destination within the preset time limit you'll get the associated prize for that trip.

• If it's to Jeuno, you'd get a gate glyph for the stables you came from. This is a one-use warp item that sends you to that nation's stables.
• If it involves Windurst, you'd get "Miratete's Memoirs", an XP scroll that randomly gives 500-1500 XP on use.
• It it's Bastok <-> San d'Oria, you'd get "Dragon Chronicles", an XP scroll that randomly gives 500-1000 XP on use.

A good way to tell what the destinations, prizes and time limits are is to look at the Mithra Pride page on it. AFAIK nowhere else has listed this information yet, surprisingly.

You should note that Bastok -> Jeuno is a fair bit longer than either of the other two, and you should also note that any trip of Bastok <-> Windurst is impossible without Riding Time+ equipment in use.

You can only make one run per day, which resets at JP midnight.

Typically I make use of the Bastok -> San d'Oria route. I find the ~750 XP you gain is the easiest and safest return-for-time of all "Lost Chocobo" quests. I've created a guide map that may be of use to you.

You needn't use the free chocobo to head to your set destination - you can use it just as you would any ordinary chocobo, with the only penalty being the inability to get this quest again until the next JP day.

Finally, there's also one from Kazham to "Norg" (you only need to take it to Sea Serpent Grotto) and I gather the time limit is pretty easy to meet once you've run it and have the route burned into memory. I can't remember the prize, and in all honesty Kazham itself takes too long to get to for this to be really worth it in my opinion.
