So basicly they've changed the EULA to be like 99.999% of all EULA's in existance.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

No, they just rearranged where in the EULA it is.

It used to be Section 4.1 (for POL; 4.2 in the FFXI EULA itself) that had this language in it.

More amusing is the following section, which basically states that they aren't responsible for lost profits or business opportunities due to the inability to use the software.

So IGE can't sue 'em for the downtime, either. :->

Wouldn't be surprised at that - it probably got laughed out of court on those grounds, though.

I'm laughing at all the noobs crying about a refund.

This game has been out for 3 years in NA, and people are still complaining.

You would think most would understand by now.

I bet the Japanese players dont complain anymore.

Something I've noticed is a lot of people mentioning the game as having been out for 3 years for NA... it's seemingly a trend going around the boards...

http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/454/454284p1.html

It was first launched in NA in 2003.. it's now 2005.. The game has been out for 2 years in NA... this is the 3rd halloween event for North Americans... only because the game was first launched just before halloween in 2003 in NA...

2003 Halloween event
2004 Halloween event
2005 Halloween event

Oct 2003 to Oct 2004 = 1 year
oct 2004 to Oct 2005 = 1 year

2 years the game has been out for NA

Well actually, regardless of whatever agreements you sign electronic or physical, all products and services sold in the United States of America are subject to the implied warranty act. Basically, they're legally obligated to provide a working product.

However, I really don't give two darns about whether the servers are up or not. Not being able to play for a day or two sucks, but it's not life changing. I can keep myself occupied with books, models, tv, etc. And if I get desperate for social interaction I can head to the bar.

Frankly, any one who complains about server abnormalities after a patch, update or maintence either hasn't been playing to long, or suffers from amnesia. Check play online frequently, whenever you see "server maintence" or "Play online maintence" just make other plans for that night.

Remember, the E in eta is "expected." Nothing is ever as expected when it comes to technology.
