Way to change name?Follow

I would like some input on the following idea I had.

If you want to change your name in FFXI, would it work to CANCEL your character (Not delete him/her). Name another character (a new Lv. 1) the same name on the same server, then restart your account.

Since that name is now taken, would you be able to type in a new name?

Or, would your account become erased permanantly when you create another character, with the same name, when the old one is on hold?

It works. People who did character recovery have had to rename their character.

But I am not sure how long a name is retained after a content ID is deactivated (or character is deleted).

No... If you change your name when you want, you can be as much of an ******* as you want to be. Keeping one name all the time atleast marks that one character for life if they are a *********

Edit: yes you can delete your character and get it back "possibly". you can only do this ONCE tho.

Well, I had my account for 2 years now. It was active until this summer then I put it on hold for 3 months and reactivated at the end of summer this year.

What happens if I delete him and try to do this?

P.S. - I didn't do anything fked up. I just want to shorten my character's name. Not even completely change it.

So, I'm not trying to cover something up lol

I think the easiest way to go about this would be to have someone else convince a GM that your name is somehow offensive. Perhaps you could have them say it's a slang term for a sexual activity involving blue crayons, marmalade, and a donkey?
