I'm sorry, but I have to rate the OP down.

If you need to leave, especially for something pre-planned such as work (you did know ahead of time, right?) Then you need to give your party some prior notice.. at least 15 min if you can.

Just saying "Gotta go, sorry. *Warp*" is highly rude and it will earn yourself a bad name. You could at least say "Guys, I only have 15 min left, could you please try to find a replacement for me?" and give them a chance to get someone there for when you leave.

They had every right to ask "you leaving!?" in a surprised way. You were very rude and crass both by the sarcasm and the fact you just ditched them on the spot. I'm quite sure you complain about other people doing the same, but yet its OK when you do it?

yea serious.. at least 15min, unless you didnt know your goin to work.. and even so, no need to be harsh.

Getting ready for work, to some people might mean, "afk for 10min while i get dressed, or make coffee or load my gun"

then you can be back for xamount of time till you have to LEAVE for work

Ahh... no dont rate him down.. I think he may have mistyped

Quote:

doesn't make any sense at all... if he were going to stay logged in and in the PT why would he use a warp cudgel. I believe that he meant to type

WHM: Gotta go, gotta get ready for work now.
me: You;re leaving?
WHM: No, im gonna stay logged in and in this pt while im at work.

me uses warp cudgel

then again I may be an asshat and have no idea what im talken about

Me: My apologies comrades, I must remove myself from our wholesome group and begin preparation for my daily responsibilities, wherein I recieve wages proportional to the hours in which I perform them.

WHM: I say, you must part ways?

Me: No, perhaps I should stay as you misguided individuals continue to decimate enemies while I stand apart, taking in experience without contributing anything, as I will be at work.

Me: Following my witty retort, I activate this cudgel of transportation and reappear at a location I have previously selected, whereupon I initiate the log out process.

I think if you know you need to go to work at a specific time, you tell the party when there's still decent time for them to replace you or whatever. I'd never just spontaneously say "OH TIME FOR WORK BYE".. I'd say well in advance, even during the party forming, that I have to get ready for work in three hours and I'd remind them when there's an hour left and allow the leader to replace me at that time.

ROFL

Ok anyway yeah, leaving the party without notice, when it's obvious you knew when you had to leave for quite some time is quite simply very rude. I had a pld yesterday who gave us 1 mob warning that she was leaving, uh thanks for giving us time to find a replacement jerk. Sure things come up suddenly sometimes, but generally those people actually apologise to the party.

I was in a JP party the other day and was shocked when they told me they were disbanding in 80 mins. 80 mins warning!! I was sure it was a misstype, but sure enough an hour and 20 mins later we disbanded.

The amount of warning you give your party should be proportionate to the amount of time it takes to get to camp, plus about 10 mins or so.

It's a routine done by a stand up comedian by the name of Bill Engvall. He's one of the Blue Collar Comedy guys along with Jeff Foxworthy.

I agree with the other posters here. There definitley many times to be sarcastic in this game, but your situation was not one of them. The white mage had every excuse to be surprised that you were suddenly leaving.

I agree with xylia. The whm probably said "You're leaving" because he thought you would have had the intelligence to tell him/her you were leaving in advance. It was kind of rude of you >< Concidering you knew you had work, you could have easily planned to find a replacement and tell them before you actually logged. Also, if you are rich enough to get a warp cugel (sp?), then you should know this by now....

Title should be "Wow, the audacity of some players is ASTOUNDING", and it should be teh WHM posting it.

It is possible he had said earlier he had to go, and what he told us was simply him saying he had to go now. But the Whms reaction does seem to say otherwise.

Either way, I kinda agree with the rest of you

Well, I think the OP was kind enough to write a title suitable to his attitude and personality in that situation. He showed his intelligence level when he just announced he was leaving PT, and when someone wanted to confirm it, incredulous that he would leave without appropriate notice, he played the obligatory asshat card. It's a title perfectly suited for him.

What do you expect from a guy who names himself from a craptacular villain in a poorly-remade comic that pales to the original black-and-white series?
