Using any form of <st> can be tricky if you use a visual gear swap, since it'll cancel the sub-target arrow unless you're really fast. In which case, be ready to hit your macro a few times first. >.>

Not if you put the gearswap after the <st> line.

/ma "Fire III" <stnpc>
/equip main "Fire Staff"

Ok, there is a very simple command that bypassed ALL of this trouble....

/assist "Tank'sname"

It targets whatever mob you tanks is attacking, and for the most part, the tank targets the pt's mob and the pt's mob only during the fight.

So, a good line of macros...

/assist "tanksname"
/ma "hard nuke" <t>
/ma "Cure" <stpc>
resolves all issues

If you're going to gear swap for a WS make sure that your <stnpc> comes last

ex:
/equip head
/equip hands
...
/ws "XXX" <stnpc>

This works well if you're swaping gear that will make you blink. It ensures that your ws hass the full effects of the gear. Remember that ws's are instant unlike spells, you want to have the gear on before you trigger it.

This does not solve all the issues.

You want complete control over what you cast on. For example, if we pull two mobs, and I want to start enfeebling the linked mob a bit early, then I don't want the /assist command built into my macro.

<stnpc> is the only command that works well in all situations.
