If FFXI never existed, none. Being a fan of the FF series was a huge reason that I started playing this, the main other being that I could spend more time with friends and relatives who I didn't see very often. Now, I'm thoroughly hooked, though. If FFXI ended and I was to choose another, it would probably be WoW, though I might wait and see how some of the games currently in development turn out.

Hmm.. well I played UO for about 4 years until FFXI came out. Then I quit FFXI once for a bit and tried City of Heros and EQ2 and WoW.
If FFXI never exsisted then I probably would have played the **** out of CoH, then most likely would have stuck with EQ2 since they have some pretty kool houses.
The thing that I loved the *most* about UO was the housing system.
Then, I probably would have gotten bored, and gone back to UO.

Is D&D Online out yet? I'd probably play that. Or at least give it a shot.

Neocron a cyberpunk FPS/MMORPG, I'd probably still be playing that until Codemasters releases RF Online

Possibly Eve, Anarchy Online. I did want to play Dragon Empires but Codies trashed that one a long time ago :(

I use to love xbox live, but ffxi seems to force me to choose it over anything else online lol.

Phantasy Star Online as my level 31 RaCast.

Maybe matrix online, but frankly once I'm done with FFXI I'll be done with MMOG forever. I'll go play Doom 3, Quake 4, and Morrowind and Oblivion. games with real story >.> (Morrowind and Oblivion. I don't think FPS can have a really good story)

I'd be playing some MMO, that's for sure. Single-player games are fun, but don't give me that sense of accomplishment that FFXI does. I'd probably try out EQ2, EVE, and yes, even WoW.

Kingdom of Loathing.

If you don't know that game, shaaaaaaaame on you.

(Unless it was 11ish EST, duing their nightly rollover, then I'd prolly explode from boredom.)

I'll probably end up playing Warcraft-3:Frozen Throne. I do play it when my friends go on and play, but if FFxi didnt exist, I would be playing some crap MMORPG. FFxi really tuned up my taste and expectations of MMORPGs, eg: the leveling, crafting, nation-rank, conquest systems.

I wouldn't be playing any other MMORPGs. I bought this one because I have enjoyed the series... and I am glad I did ^^

I would probably by cycling through half-life 2 and its many mods. Like half life 2 deathmatch, day-o-defeat, counterstrike, etc.

I cant believe no one said EQ2. From what I have seen that game is really underrated.

Not sure I would have played any MMORPG. None of them really draw my interest.

I'd still have my Planetside Account active, even though it sucks compared to when it was first released.

To answer the person who asked about Dungeons and Dragons Online it is in Alpha atm. They are anticipating last i heard an end of the year release. Beta should be coming very soon they have been in a closed alpha/beta for a few months with their testers.

One of my friends mentioned he knew 2 people in the closed testing and that it is so far very cool. So i'm hoping the new DnD online game is very cool. It appears it will be very different from current RPG games here. So far no crafting and max level is 20. I watched a couple videos and it looked impressive. very Neverwinter Nights/Diablo like. I will definately give it a try and will probably play that along side at its launch with FF. It'll give me something to do between maint. for both games hehe.

Most other games online or not online just have been sucky lately.

i probably wouldnt be at all, i started before wow was out, i tried EQ a little... i could feel the seisures forming after just a couple weeks^^

and now i have NO patience for learning curves on games mainly because of this game, everything takes a long time and stopping for 15 mins every time you try something new makes spending hours on other games like WoW seem pointless when you know it will neverstop as long as you keep playing.

poorly worded reasoning but basically if this game dies i dont plan on starting again on a new one.

didn't read all the posts just responding to original question..

I'd be playing Spacemerchant and Spacemerchant realms.. not really MMORPGs but I left them for FF :(

If FFXI didn't exist, I'd go back to Ragnarok Online, which I played for 3 years.
