I think all of us have seen how players have dealt with the isolation issue:

Can you find me a raise? {Homepoint} Jeuno

Jeuno is the nomad moogle. This is just as bad of a problem when so many people refuse to set HP. A nomad moogle in Selbina is not going to change the game that much, or ruin the experience for new players who will still have to get their chocobo license for decent transport anyway.

And I think Aerialsquid's idea is cute.

The outpost warp idea doesn't solve the problem of people who refuse to HP. A nomad moogle would be more helpful all around.

I think that SE did it best when they gave us collars at New Years. Level 15, used once a day, and plants you right back at the chocobo stable of your respective town. I'm sure they've thought about this issue quite often.

How about you put that moogle in Mhaura? It might actually get people to level in an alternate zone instead of the crap zones people flock to.

How would putting a nomad moogle in Selbina harm the learning curve of new people? They wouldn't have higher-level jobs to switch to anyway, so it would be mostly for the benefit of people who have a job at 20+ (for outpost warping) and just need to make a quick trip to the AH for new gear toward the end of their Valkurm levelling stretch. It would also help first-time newbies (who wouldn't have gobbiebag expansions at that point) have access to all the gear and consumables they need, as long as they have the foresight to buy ammo/food/medicines/spells/equipment in advance and place the items in their mog safe for future use. To me that seems more conducive to good planning and preparation than inconveniencing them with a long, boring walk.

Getting back to a main city is a 25+ minute walk, unless you live in Windurst, which can take upwards of 45 minutes to return to on foot due to the long boat ride. Truly new people won't have a chocobo license, so walking to a main city to do something as simple as pick up items turns into an hour-long ordeal. If we're depending on time spent travelling to keep us from speeding through the levels like bats out of hell, that suggests broken gameplay.
