Ooooo, I'm liking the look of the new THF AF already! :D Thanks for considering my request. This thread is now getting perma-bookmarked.

I think you put into words what I had in my head better than I did. xD The present AF really does just lack its stealthy, thievy look, getting instead a rogue pirate theme.. So thumbs up for your idea.

I love the looks of the Sune-Ate, but durned if they go well with any pants out there. x.x If only there were some good looking streamlined shoes. But then we wouldn't want our poor cat thief in full spandex, either... Bah! I leave the creativity to you!

That's Kain Highwind armour. Cid Highwind was that cigarette-smokin' cussin' space pioneer living in some hick town. Funny thing being he may have the most "normal" clothing scheme of any playable character to date.

Good point. I should try and read things properly :)

Okay, I've tried my hand at re-doing some pieces of gear, and had no success (.dat pwns me) So I figure I can throw out some stuff and see if anybody felt like trying them out.

* Male Elvaan no gear top

I raelly hate the belly shirt we're stuck with when were not wearing gear (I have no love for the oddball shoes we wear then, either). If someone could even figure out a way to make a complete shirt for when we're gearless, I would appreciate it.

* Kite-class shield

Has anybody come up with a kite-type shield that actually has a nice appearance? I would even like the RK Army shield if the red filled the main area of the shield instead of being a red stripe in the middle one-third of it. The same applies for the TK Army shield, except talking about the white stripe.

* Myochin Artifact Armor set

Even a simple re-coloring would be nice, but the one thing I can't stand about the Myochin set is that it's brown with orange trim. Alone they are not the best colors to look at, and together they're just ugly. I would wholeheartedly enjoy a recoloring to a decent color.

* Sleeves on Haubergoen

This one is just for my particular setup of gear. When I level SAM I wear a haubergoen and a set of STR bracelets. The bracelets end up looking like I'm wearing no hand gear, and I like that look, but the sleeves on the haubergoen look strange when they're not covered by a piece of hand armor. If there was a way to replace the sleeve below the elbow with the bare arm from the no-gear top, that would be spectacular.

I tried, but until I can figure out the VRS program, which is entirely in Japanese, I think it's impossible. Metasequoia can really only do so much. ; ;

VRS is being translated right now, but you probably have seen that. Hopefully it'll be done soon, so I can try out some of the new ideas I've had.

Hey,

Ok some wont' belive me probally but Ayianna can verify and I can post on the site where i'm posting info about the translation if somone doesnt' belive me ^^. Kilandor was already taken (very oddly since I made name myself) on Alla Already :(,

Here is link to where I will post info basicly
http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50432

Since some will ask.

No it will not be released to later on, it takes time to translate VRS because there are so many options and msg's to translate. Then Figure out how it should be said in english Properly. And there are probally 20+ DLL plgins to translate.

When its released you will know I promise you :)

zzz... spend a few hours looking around the internet and you can find a treasure trove of .dat files that really look impressive... here's one for the alla n00bs ^_^

I have to agree, while these mods look "pretty good", I have done plenty of mod searching on lots of different rpgs, and these mods you have done look pretty mediocre compaired to lots of the really high-end stuff you can find on the net.

A couple of yours look much better than the others, but I would say about 1/2 of them wouldn't get much of a second look if they were on a site with some of the higher-end mods you can find out there.

Good to see people are doing FFXI mods though :)

Comparing mods from one RPG to another is like trying to compare WoW to FFXI...

They are similar, but VERY different.
You can do only so much with a FF XI mod, compared to a mod of another game...

Great work OP on these Mods! =D

My only concern about one of them, the Carby Summon, looks darker and blotchy than the original on this PC. Anyone else have that problem, or could it be my color scheme?

My questions though:

Before I download the editor, or is there another out there that allows customization of weapons and shields?

Would the same editor/different editor allow you to edit the way a race attacks with a certian weapon class?

If it's possible, could it also edit Weapon Skill models? (One Inch Punch just never seemed like Bruce Lee's ^^;)

I'd like to try editing myself and share my work with Alla, so if you have any tips or sites, send a PM. ^^ Thank you.

Just a quick note, with the upcomming patch, it would be best to restore your files before patching it and putting them back after the patch. If could flag "corrupt install" when is scans the files.

But great job on the Avatars, they are very nice!

Finally! An *Update*!

Just a little WIP shot for Leviathan. I changed the pink to green and I tried to make him a little shinier so he would look wet. His new texture is only about half there so far-I'm planning on giving him better defined scales, and probably going to darken up his stomach a bit so that it's not so blinding. (His bottom half is untextured so far.)

Oh, and I think I'm going to scrap Ramuh's bottom half and try to do it over, as well as adding more contrast to his head. (Will not give him goth makeup...will not give him goth makeup...)

Also have a WIP shot for a reskin of the Taru Austere body piece. This was requested over on the ffxionline forums, and was so cute that I simply couldn't resist. ^^

Edit: Oh, almost forgot!

He does? Hmmm...I can't say I noticed. Does anyone else see this?

-You can customize weapons and shields with the programs that I use, and well as the armor. I just haven't ever gotten around to it.

-Hmmm, well, you could switch some of the .dats around (ie. switch the high kick with the low kick for Mnks.) But in most cases, you'd end up with an empty-handed attack. Behaps when VRS is done being translated, it could be used to edit the animations.

-Again, as of now, we only really know how to switch around the animations. I don't even know how to edit, say, the sparkly stuff when you cast cure.

However, if you want to know what the .dats for WS and spells are, go here:

(And rate this guy up. ^^)

The .dat for the bubbles is ROM/0/1.DAT...atleast, it used to be. Can't change it for each spell though, as they all use the same. Not sure how the weaponskills are set up, but we could do some testing and find out.

Hey, I am wondering if you can do a request. Can you make a Warrior AF1 where the red and black is a gold color? But not all one single color, a few diffrent shades so it looks relistic.
#93REDACTED, Posted: Oct 09 2005 at 8:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Could you make Firaga II look like a colosal, massive nova like explosion that is about as big as 3 vrtras

Oh :O Also, one last thing. Could you make the Carbuncle mod and Ramuh up for the change, I would love carby to look like that. I think I like the old Leviathan alittle better than the new one, but I am only seeing it from one angle of the screenshot, so it may be better. Its just my opinion though, your work is fantastic. I can't wait to see if you do Shiva, Ifrit, and Fenrir =)

Bump.

(Anything more done on the Rydia look? ^^)
#98 Oct 10 2005 at 6:39 AM Rating: Decent
It's amazing what bump mapping can do to textures or "Skins" as it where. Almost to the point where I don't know why more game designers don't do it themselves. (Size constraints?) At least, I'm Assuming it was bump mapping you did. If not tell me what it was It looks excelent.

Guess who's supposed to be doing homework rather than reskinning avatars...and who is reskinning avatars anyway?

Um...yeah...anyway... I started working on Shiva. I'm trying to make her look more icy, parts of her are working (namely her chest) and parts of her aren't. (Namely her thighs...which I'm going to remodel anyway. Because, honestly, they scare me.)

I'm actually tempted to leave her naked, because I'm so happy with the way her torso turned out. And I wish I could manage to log into the game and find out how it actually looks, but, ah well.

So I give you: Shiva! (aka: My avatar hath no clothes!)

Also, an update to the Rydia outfit. I finally asked myself why I wasn't using the swimsuit bottom for the reskin, and finding no suitable answer, smacked myself a few times and reskinned that instead.

Actually, I'm only using texture mapping. I'm really more of a painter than a modeler, and I have very little experience in 3D modeling beyond two high school classes. Granted, come to think of it, all of my Photoshop work is also self-taught.

That's why I try to steer clear of too much mesh editing, because I'm constantly afraid of making a tangled mess out of the thing.

So, yeah, all of the texture you see on my skins is usually hand-painted. (With a mouse, nonetheless, because I'm too lazy to lean over and plug in my tablet >.>)

Beautiful work. Wasnt too excited about the mithra stuff and the DRK and THF AF and Shiva was a little too much. She's my favorite and fine just the way she is (maybe some color touchup, but please dont lose those thighs XD) Most mithra are males so I dunno how the AF and shoulderless tops would fly. Excelent work though, its great to see some creative ideas coming forth.

I know you're busy. but I'd be interested to see what you would do to Hume RSE. IMHO the worst looking gear in the entire FFXI wardrobe. Keep up the good work. Bravo!
