A little something I noticed. I decided to try out a few weapons with my NPC including some 2 handed ones. But in the end I decided to go back to Sword, mostly because my NPC will probably be doing alot of tanking and I figured the extra defense a shield provided would help. Well..
I traded in the Xiphos and later summoned my NPC. She had the sword but no shield! Does anyone know if I can trade in a shield to Luto and if so what shield? Does it matter if my NPC even has a shield or is it just for looks with no real benefit?

Bty I keep changing my NPC from attacker and healer and today its not wearing rse top and a sublingar... pretty odd

My NPC dinged level 35 today and Luto old me he wanyed to upgrade his weapon. My NPC had been using a Butterfly Axe, and Luto accepte d a lvl 12 Greataxe, it can be bought from the weapons store in Upper Jeuno.
Also after numerous turning on an off of the chat filters, I have found that the only way to see the damage your npc does without turning off all filters is to set "Damage taken by foes" to Off.

tried my npc for the first time, and i was impressed by the intelligence. it cast provoke right when i used my convert macro. and used provoke another time when i was low on hp and used a cure 4 on myself. it also did not attack a goblin's spider that i had cast sleep on, not even after i killed the gob. it waited for me to cast my debuffs and attack before it jumped in.
i fought a few mobs without difficulty. i only got in trouble twice, and she provoked both times, with a cool little macro saying something like "your fight is with me..."
unfortunately, i caught a bit of aggro and had to zone, and she then disappeared.

I'm not sure about the healer and shield types, but my NPC is definitely has some MNK in him....He keeps countering like crazy! And just to let you know, he's STILL level 30, but im a 39whm soloing in qufim, so the 10 xp from every battle might not help too much...
BTW: Can the NPCs equip knuckles? I cant remember off the top of my head the weapon list ><;;

I know what you mean. Whenever my NPC got hate from me, she'd counter about 1/5 times.
NPCs can equip knuckles, trade Cesti for the first go.

I tryed making a new subject for my question, thus it failed and I have to post here... sorry to everyone in advance for posting here but any feedback is much appreciated.
Q. Is there a way to change your NPC after you have completed the quest? I chose a Taru and after lvling with him for a bit
I now have regrets about choosing taru and now hume. am I stuck with him now?

Day 4.1:
We had out and finally she dings 31. She takes her leave and I go check out Luto still nothing and then her and what do I see my mithra is wearing a subligar the type that looks like panties and boots I swear I only seen on a Hooker on TV. So of course I had to take her back out so I droped my pearl and went for round 2 for the first time.
Day 4.2:
My NPC the hot sexy Mithra went all out I swear panties and Hooker boots for our date out in the country.....

Just a note, i dont know if its in here, but I was in Qufim as 23 war called my noob err npc, ( healer style atm) we were killing a few T worms which was damn cool, but then i started headin back to Jueno and I clicked her to let her go but she said something along the lines of "Already? I'm set to go!" and wouldnt leave after i clicked her twice, so then i said cool, startin fighting some seeker bats almost won but she let me die ;;

You can't change your current NPC, but you can get a new one. Talk to Luto (in upper Jeuno) and choose 'I want to end this task' (or something like that). She will ask you to trade the signal pearl to her, and when you do, your NPC will cease to exist. You can then re-start the quest and get a new NPC.

Palometa is the little girl with the brown cap you had to rescue from Eldieme Necropolis on your first quest. I think the 'chat' of the NPC is random. I have had chats about the dragon in Ghelsba and the fate of the little girl in Jeuno (just stating it was a good thing to send her back to Jeuno or something the likes, not mentioning her name)

I was hoping with the mini update we had, that SE gave us another little quest for our NPC. Is anyone on Pandemonium server that can help me level her? I have been out 4 times now in Rolanberry Fields and no level yet. I'm only level 36 and can't fight the big baddie Xp generating mobs yet.

A quick question, if I may. I'm out there in Battalia Downs with my PLD63/WAR31 killing stuff that is rediculously easy (Too Weak), but should be considered EM-IT for a normal Lv. 30. Now, is my NPC getting the full EXP, or is she still getting a cut of it?
I've always wondered this...
Another problem is that I'm not seeing a "Level up!" pop up above my character... she recently turned 31 without my knowledge. Anyone have a solution to that?
Anyways, here's mine- note that the following battles were with a PLD63/WAR31, and after multiple deaths and experiments. ^_^;;
Day 1, Part 1
(Currently Wearing- Hume Vest (f), Hume Gloves, Vagabond's Leggings/Boots)
Called my NPC at the entrance to Battalia from Jeuno and whacked a few Tigers and weapons. The weapons were the most irritating, but mostly because people were hogging them. Gave up weapons and switched to high end Gobs and Orcs.
A few kills later- i'd say about 14 or so- she says she has to leave. I head back to the Rendezvous, and find that she's wearing new gloves- lizzie gloves, to be exact. That alone is awesome.
Day 1, Part 2
Drop, get another one, repeat EXPing. This time, we made good time- a full 15 kills before she had to run. Tons of skillchains -those are fun with your NPC- but mostly fusion and liquefaction. I am very impressed at SE for this- they actually made an NPC that HELPS, and is smart enough to know when you are in trouble.
Heck, she even told me when she was ready to SC. Fun stuff.
Dinged 31, but I didn't see it... anyone have any problems like that?
Anyways, I get back, check with Luto for the heck of it, and booya! Weapon upgrade time. Had a bit of trouble, but found an Uchigatana for her to use.
Today, I will venture out again and see just how bad-*** my friend Nanako has become! Stay tuned!

Hi all,
I am not sure whether this has been posted, but I have decided to post this message to help out those who may have the same question. I have traded multiple weapons to Luto before she asked for the weapon upgrade. I wasn't sure then how my NPC will choose among all the weapons traded.
What I realised is that my NPC will alway use the weapon that I traded to Luto last. For example when my last traded weapon to luto is a staff, my NPC used the staff until I have traded a new weapon.
My lastest trade to luto is a GreatAxe in response to her request for a weapon upgrade. My NPC has been using the GreatAxe for the two times I summoned her since.
I hope this helps.

Dunno if this has been mentioned yet but since everyone was freaking about your NPC leaving you if you click on her twice.
I found.. there is a decent delay between when she says you want to part ways? and when she says i take my leave and actually vanishes
if you talk to her again before she says i take my leave.. she will say oh you want to keep together? and stay.

Notice that SE did not nerf the twice-a-day NPC summons in their update. They want us to keep using the NPCs!!!!
Do the NPCs improve on the WSs as they lvl? Jugowa is using GS but Frostbite kinda sucks.. Was wondering if the damage will be better when I switch to a harpoon.

your NPC's attack is BEING countered not the NPC countering the gora's attack
after being lv 34 for alittle less then 24 hours my NPC hit lv 35 making it the 3rd level in 4 days and i only done the 2 calls a day thing on 2 of the 4 days

altepa is the best place to level it from 30-35 atleast i'll see if i can hit lv 436 tomorrow doing the same thing killing mostly goblins and skeletons near outpost and pond
