Has anyone else had issues with their NPC's voke not being very strong? As a 19 RDM I was always pulling hate.

Quite so.

I took my friend out to Batallia immediately, on my level 34 NIN job, and I was pulling hate after her weak vokes constantly. I wasn't doing anything to try to pull hate (you know, all the ninja stuff).

When I was low on HP, I rested, and she did too, healing herself in the proccess.

We fought some EMs, DCs, and mostly EPs.

She stayed for about half an hour (didn't actually time it, but my wife, in Sauromugue, had hers despawn just about 1 minute before mine, and I think it was about 1 minute before me that she called hers).
She left after saying she was exhausted.

I went back to check on her, and she was still level 30, but had changed from full Scale Mail to a Doublet, Gaiters, and Battle Gloves (and still Scale pants).

I dropped the pearl and got another one, and we went into Rolanberry, and fought mostly EPs, until I decided foolishly to try a tough Ocho.

She ended up dying first, and before I kicked the bucket, I did Mijin Gakure (didn't want to lose any exp ^^).

Went back to find that she's changed back to Scale, except now she appeared to have Chainmail boots on.

Tomorrow I'll go level her using my main, 75 MNK.

A note to the op: You are making a mistake I see people make all the time... we happen to be in Daylight Savings time. Japanese midnight is 11am EDT, or 10am EST.

Your error will be even more apparent once we leave Daylight Savings time and enter Standard Time

Ok, now i'm confused.. current Tokyo time is shown as 9:18pm and it's 8:18am EST right now which gives me the impression 12:00am there would be 11:00am EST.

    me : WHM29/BLM
NPC : first time summoning him, so he's probably Lv.30 on shield mode.

I wanted to try a mandy in Tough yuhtunga but there wasn't any, so I tried a Tough gob smithy instead. Things were a bit challenging, after a while, my NPC said he doesn't think he can make it. There was a thunder storm at the same time at my place. My NPC had 5% or less of his HP bar left, same for the mob, I start casting Cure III, bam! power flicks after a big lightning flash, my PC shuts down, I'm like **** my power supply's fried.

I come back, the NPC is gone (of course), I'm still a live with ~120HP, the gob is dead, and I got around 100 exp!

So yes, it is possible, for now at least, to kill T mobs, if one of the 2 is a healer type job, but there will be major down time between each fights.

Oddly enough, you people saying his provoke sux, I was able to pull Cure III 2-3 times in the fight without getting hate!

Has anyone figured out yet if it's possible for the npc to delevel. Like going back from 31 to 30 when it dies.

I am just curious if the NPC gets an exp-penalty when it gets killed...

This argument is really off-topic, but since you're confused, that same site tells you that if it's 12 AM in Japan, it would be 11 AM EDT in New York...as shown here.

Every summer, when Daylight Saving Time is active, EST switches to EDT. Hope this helps!

    Hiya all.

Today I gave luto a Uchigatana for her to give to my NPC and I went to level her and my DRG 25 now 26.

She was set to healer mode but she did use the Greath Katana, she hit Decent Challenge mobs (to me) for half my damage with polearm sometimes she almost matched my damage.

That is quite impressive since she is in healer mode and cure me with Cure III and verious staus like blid and poison.

She also used weapon skills with nice damage.

So wee see that BPC can use all sorts of weapons and be healer, that is interesting.

XD my Romidiant speaks differently to me.

When he vokes he says something like "I shall be your enemy"
and if he is going to die he says something like "I am don't think I am going to make it"
When I summon him he says "Greetings. A fine day for Adventuring" and when he leaves he says "Farewell" and something else.

Oh just wanted to add that I partied with one other person and she was able to cure both her and my npc.

When I partied by myself, I could not have someone else cure the npc.

She could not however refresh him.

I have come up with 2 theories from my outings with npc upto now.

    1. It seems she gets exhausted and leaves if we dont rest after a number of fights. I am unsure whether this number is based on the difficulty of the fights or just a set number. It seemed to be around 5 for me but i am unsure as i only noticed after she had left and cant test it until tomorrow. Perhaps it is related to the PC hp? It would be interesting if other ppl could test this out too.

    2. Atm, it seems as though she changes equip in line with how much damage she takes/deals. Ie, if u have an npc and she is shield type but you tank, she seems to either get the wrong type of equip, low lvl equip or she doesnt change. Whilst if she tanks a lot, she seems to get better equip and more in line with what you expect of a tank.

These are both unconfirmed theories and i would love for someone to test them out and help me out as the call times for the NPCs atm are a bit restricting :(

I hope some others have seen similar things.

ROFL, i tried 2hring a big train of mobs, garuda killed 0 out of about 30 mobs with it. so i dismiss and bring carby out who luckily killed 1 to meet the quota, and then i was lucky enough to get off a instant warp before being interrupted by the 15 mobs beating on me. survived with 80hp
Khuma now has centi pants to go along with the chest

also, i gave Khuma a pair of cesti, usually in Yhoat she never broke 40 with a WS, and did roughly 23 per hit. with the cesti, she hits twice for 20'ish, with 2 chances of double attack and her combo did 104 o.o

I have found that the NPC leaves after exactly 15 fights. For 2 days in a row(didn't know about pearl drop trick) I took mine into Xarcacard and killed demons/lost souls on my pld. I keep track and she left both times after exactly 15 kills.

this can't be completely true. i posted this earlier but it got lost in all the post: i was with a friend , i called my npc and she called hers 30 sec. after me (she didn't have pearl equipped when i called mine) we fought for some time and my npc left mid-fight while her npc left 30 seconds after mine finishing the mob we were fighting in the process. so her npc killed 1 more mob than mine which makes the 15 kill theory untrue. cause if she got the 15 kill
mark on the last mob , it means mine stayed only for 14. and if mine left cause we had 15 kills already then hers stayed for 16.

i think the npc stays for either a set amount of exp, a set # of kills or a set amount of time depending whichever is reached first

my NPC has been holding up pretty good. she's scared me a few times though. when i first got her se was voking everything as soon as i hit what ever. i had to toss cure 3 like bad meat. now, it wasn't that bad...but, on my bst (Lv. 55) 128mp isn't alot. i had to break out my scythe to out dmg, to take hate.

i then to her out with my 59 rdm to the jungle out post to fight tomberry and cralwers. for anyone thinging about this. don't fight SMN types. thier avatar will element-ga and do massive game to your NPC. i had to manage my HP form hate, HP, from being weak, and MP. sure enough its a tester if anything.

i have notice that my NPS is a bit of a smart-***. when i call here up she say "Try not to slow me down" and the first fight say "Try and keep up". i mean really.... i don't might a smart *** woman, i keeps me sharp and all. but, she's asking for a cure-free fight with stuff like that. i wonder if the the name/race has anything to do why what they do or say.

and, why can't we call then in dugon areas. i was gonna have so much fun in Quicksand with my bst.

Only the following weapons will be accepted after day 5, you may trade any of the following to luto. she will in return give your NPC this weapon.

Hmmm... does this mean i might be able to trade my unused AF1 lance eventually? =P

I have seen a few people ask what makes the npc leaves,i have kept track everytime i brought good ole' beatrice out and this is what i have concluded.

She will stay UNTIL EITHER we have killed 15 mobs OR have fought for a total of 45 minutes.

I counted the number of kills everytime whenever i reached 15 she left immediatly,i also only killed 14,3 seperate times on purpose then watched the countdown on the earring til it hit 19 hours 15 min which means i had her 45 minutes she left to the second everytime.

I have brought her out 7 times, used a much higher lvl char than her just fought beetles in altepa and they do lvl without you recieving experience.

I believe the meeting point is at G-10. As you enter Ru'Lude turn left and head to where everyone else is seeming to loiter. ^^

Today I was killing Ants and Spiders in East Altep on my 62 MNK with my level 30 healer NPC taru. It was her 5th time out, wearing a Doublet and accompanying gear. After the 14th fight, the log showed XP gained and loot i had obtained. I was just standing there, and she cast Protect II on me. Then she leveled up.

Unfortunatly I was playing on PS2, so I wasn't able to take a screenshot of the log. =/

I could have hit a spot of lag, I wasn't looking at my S/R at the time. But my connection had been very good at the time, so I do not believe it was because of that.

My theory is that NPCs gain XP not only from fights, but from also performing actions in battle.

    Hmm...

I don't understand what you just said. As long as you did the quest, the NPC will be at the rendevous point.
    #276 Jul 24 2005 at 12:35 PM Rating: Default
well, i went over where you guys described and he wasn't there. So i figured that it might not be there if you haven't summoned it yet that day. most likely wrong about that though
